Unity freezes on white screen

    I recently upgraded to Unity 5.6.03f It was working fine for a few weeks until now. Now it won't go further beyond the project selection screen. All I get is a frozen white screen as soon as the editor opens, like the image attached.

    I searched for a fix online so I deleted the library and temp folders and tried to rebuild everything. When that didn't work I completely deleted and reinstalled unity but still nothing has changed.

    How can this be fixed ?

    I had this problem too, usually when I wake up my computer from hibernation, but just launching Unity again made the trick :/

    I had a similar problem last version, I could only solve it via using the latest backup of my project.

    It freezes even when I create a new project :(
