    Hello all!

    We have recently released a new game called “Not Our Home.” This is a brand new horror game made from Unity!

    Once best friends, now have become enemies. Welcome to Jacob's life. No friends, no family, nobody. He is alone. 8 months ago, his brother was kidnapped and taken away by his ex-friend, Henry. After recent evidence found, Jacob knew he must go after Henry.

    Henry is sick. He is in need of help. He has something in common with Jacob, loneliness. Henry lives deep within the abandoned forest. No one lives anywhere near him. The only 3 things Henry has is a home, a pet, and Rodger, Jacob's brother.

    Rodger is locked up in a small shed. There are 7 locks and a wooden board blocking the door. The windows are also boarded up. Rodger has no escape. The only thing able to save him is Jacob. Help Jacob and Rodger see each other again.

    There is one more character, Emily, the sister of Rodger and Jacob. She had ran away from home a few years back. She is in contact with Henry. Why is that?

    Where are Jacob and Henry's parents? They had died a very long time ago. It is just Rodger and Jacob who are keeping the family together. However, it is possible to reunite with Emily.

    The v1.1.0 update is now out!

    What’s New?

    • 2 new areas in the map
    • Map is larger, more room to walk!
    • New items
    • New requirements to leave the players bedroom
    • Players bedroom has new decorations
    • The potion is now harder to obtain
    • Smarter AI for enemies
    • Enemies have a wider field of view
    • The skeleton can walk to more areas
    • You can now attack the spider
    • You now have the ability to not trigger the spider when obtaining the potion
    • Reanimated the good ending cutscene
    • Reanimated the spider death (should be much smoother now!)
    • Quality improvements
    • Other minor improvements
    • Many major and minor bug fixes

    v1.1.1

    • Difficulty Mode: There are 4 new modes in the game. Invisible, Easy, Normal, and Hard
    • New way to hide from enemies: climb onto the roof with the ladder! If it turns 4am, you will not be able to climb back onto the roof.
    • The window man came by! The main home has fresh new windows! The old, broken down house has broken windows.
    • New trap
    • New death cinematic. To access it, you must be on the roof at 4am!
    • Performance improvements
    • Removed an exploit that allowed players to use the axe infinitely
    • New sound effects
    • Many minor and major bug fixes

    Invisible Mode:

    • Enemies cannot see you
    • Enemies have normal speed
    • No traps
    • You can only die when it turns 4am

    Easy mode:

    • Enemies are much slower

    Normal mode:

    • Same stats ever since 1.1

    Hard mode:

    • You cannot hide
    • You cannot defend yourself
    • Enemies are slightly faster than the player

    v1.2

    • New Scene: You can now explore outside the players home! In order to access the driving scene, walk up to the car door!
    • New difficulty: Insane Mode. The hardest difficulty to-date! Can you beat it?
    • New ending: Insanity Ending! You can only access this ending via the Insane difficulty!
    • AXE 2.0: The axe has been heavily flawed the past few updates, but it is now safe to say that the axe is much more stable now! There is now a delay when using the axe, many fixes for the axe, and is quite easier to use now!
    • I have heard the reviews! Several players were upset that you could not use the battery before the flashlight died, but today is different! You can now use the battery before the flashlight dies and it’ll never die in the game! If you do not retrieve the battery, you will be left in the dark.
    • The skeleton now has 4 different random spawn points
    • The skeleton has a new look when on insanity mode only.
    • There is now a difficulty menu that displays what makes each difficulty unique
    • Improved the design of the reset menu
    • Quality improvements to the players bedroom
    • Changed the controls for climbing the ladder and ringing the doorbell.
    • New sound effects + new soundtrack
    • Many bug fixes

    v1.3

    • Over 5+ new items to interact with!
    • 2 new places in the map
    • Special items: Amanda & The Mask That Stops Time
    • Amanda only has a 2% chance of spawning (1 in 50!). She unlocks something very special…
    • New saving feature: The main menu now displays which endings you have unlocked! They will turn white. (Note: players- resetting the game WILL LOSE this progress!)
    • If you find all endings you will earn a special something on the main menu!
    • The potion is now harder to obtain (except easy mode, same as 1.2)
    • Some new items now give players benefits, but do have minor consequences.
    • Added a new bug reporter menu to the main menu
    • Removed an exploit that allowed the player to enter the locker when enemies could see them go in, but never attacked.
    • You can now turn off/on the flashlight in the main intro cutscene
    • The difficulty settings will now let you know which difficulty you are on.
    • As the map is getting much bigger, there’s now a new round of random generation for items!
    • Increased the speed of the skeleton in insane mode
    • Changed the default difficulty to invisible.
    • Map is slightly bigger
    • The players bedroom has a new expansion
    • New dsdev and Network5 Easter eggs!
    • Changed the floors of the players bedroom. Old one was outdated.
    • “Key Count” has been changed to “Keys Collected”
    • New special jumpscare
    • New dialogues from Jacob
    • Camera rendering improvements
    • Improved support for larger resolutions
    • New sound effects
    • Many bug fixes
    • Minor design fix
    *To players who may see the sky as orange at the horizon, this should be fixed. Only a small percentage of players had this issue- so this should be resolved for this update!

    haha, you want the polished opinion or should i go hardcore ? (i played it and the " hardcore" things are the one that i saw and immediately thought of) : - )

    v1.3.1

    • New Halloween decorations placed around the gameplay map!
    • You can now skip the driving scene and the wake animation
    • You can now pause the game my pressing P (this also can toggle off the pause)
    • Reanimated the bedroom wake animation
    • The flashlight can now be found in the players car
    • The skeletons home now contains a broken clock
    • Fixed a minor dialogue issue

    (After this update, all Halloween decorations will be removed)

    I know this is wip, but still perhaps you don't even know, since there is a possibility that you have very hi-end PC.

    1) It's Extremely Laggy, Don't know why but i have like 30 fps max. and next to that house at the begining max 20.
    (my pc is older yes, but skyrim for example runs fine). I take my old pc to my advantage because now i see spikes or lags where they should not be, and hi-end PC would run over those fine so i would not notice there is something wrong. "Crappy PC = serious need for optimization." (also i'd like to point out that this problem has 9/10 games i try in made with unity, and no its no because of crappy pc, there is nothing that should lag that much each and every time.)

    2) Some Texture tiling issues mostly on the house from outside and the fence before the car. For example the start house outside, window rim, why not use texture of wood and tile it 1x to 1y now you have it like 1x to 10y and it makes no sense. On top of that the fence nearby house goes 1x to 20y. : -)

    3) The carpet in the smaller room is just stretched and it doesn't look good : - ) (just a tiny detail but it looks weird.
    Details add to the completeness of composition and atmosphere though, so details are important.)

    4) Personally The Font could be a little easier to read, i am sure you'd find handwritten font that's much easier to read.
    but if you like it, it's ok.

    5) Once you leave the car and pick up light, the fence slightly overlaps. You can select the mesh you want to snap in unity by pressing V (maybe holding, not sure right now) and drag the mesh By The Vertex you want snapped next to another mesh vertex and it will snap to it.

    And few tips:
    put you audios in the same volume.(relatively, of course gun shot would be louder than whisper)
    audio should have all the same quality, so if you find hi-quality sound and it sticks out just run it through
    lo-fi plugin Very slightly.
    On the contrary if you find some very low quality sound and it's suppose to sit next to high-q, find better one. : - )

    Maybe one of the reasons why it lags is, realtime lightning everywhere. In the start house perhaps you could bake the light. It could be baked even outside since its only dark and the only realtime light could be the flashlight.

    I find the potential of this raw horror kiiinda similiar to first slender. ( "cheap" looking thing which is not AAA title.(compliment))
    : - ) Overall will surely give it a go once it's more polished. Right now due to lag it's quite unplayable for me.

    Im sorry to hear about your lag issues. Can you tell us your full device name for your PC?

    And did you give the lowest quality settings a try?

    Feedback like this is very important to us & our developer. Thank you for that!

    intel hd 3000 graphics.
    intel 2450m (2.5 - 3.1GHZ, 2Core 4Thread)
    4 Gb Ram.
    Bought 2012. Kinda Retro Now.

    Skyrim, low - cca 70 fps.
    Starcraft 2 Medium - cca 80 fps.

    Could possibly run something like
    GTA IV on low around 50
    Farcry 3 around 50 as well.

    Definitely does not run things like GTA 5 Or Forest.
    Forest max 20 fps on lowest. ( would run very similar to your game actually from what i remember)

    This pc had GT555m but its dead.
    You could double or even triple the fps above if it worked.
    : - )

    Oh and yes i tried lowest and highest settings in your game, didn't really made much difference.

    p.s. (trying fraps fps meter)
    If i leave the house and look to the distance i have 25 fps, if i turn to look at the house i go to 10 max, it seems like the house is not a different scene.
    If you don't want to work with different scenes you could make the house interior at some distant place, like 100 units away, and then next to the car put just exterior of the house with nothing inside and teleport player to the front door when he leaves home.

    Each time the game loads something, it’s usually a different scene, so the exterior of the house is indeed a different scene.

    Thank you for reporting these issues, and we apologize that you’re facing them.

    I’ll look into this in the 1.3.2 & 1.4 update.

    I uploaded the build a little bit earlier, but the update is now out!

    v1.3.2

    • Removal of Halloween props
    • We have heard you: A third font is now in the game for all dialogue. Text should be easier to read!
    • Minor dialogue change when you have all the keys and try to answer the phone
    • Repositioned the flashlight. It is now harder to collide it into walls
    • Fixed certain objects from flickering
    • Fixed minor design issues
    • Fixed quality issues outside of the house
    • Improved loading pages
    • Improved compatibility on larger screens
    • Improved text quality
    • Performance optimizations, smoother gameplay
    • Other minor bug fixes

    There was a major bug found in 1.3.2

    This is a quick hotfix to the 1.3.2 update.

    v1.3.2.1

    • Fixed an out of map glitch that allowed the player to leave the map very easily and break the game.
    Due to the strict version guidelines on GameJolt, this update is marked as 1.3.3 on there. This is the same update, just a different version number to follow GameJolts guidelines

    So i tried the new version and performance-wise, for me nothing changed, i am still around 20 fps near the house.
    10 - 15 when i look at it. 25 - 35 once i leave the car...
    The font is quite readable now.
    Hope to see more updates : - )

    v1.3.4

    • Most requested feature: Sensitivity settings! You can now control how sensitive your mouse is when controlling the players camera.
    • You can now toggle the headbobbing of the camera on and off on the start menu.
    • Reanimated the forgotten ending
    • Reanimated the bad ending
    • The difficulty settings info button is now in red to pop up more, and is repositioned
    • Adjusted the size for certain dialogue for larger screens
    • The “how to play” screen now mentions that the axe purposefully has a delay to prevent exploits

    v1.4.0

    • New icon!
    • New main menu!
    • Improved path finding: Enemies are now able to reach new places and detect the player on surfaces much easier, quicker, and more efficiently now.
    • New low quality setting: Distress. This quality setting is now the lowest in the game, and is mainly recommended for devices that are older and much slower than other devices.
    • When you attack an enemy from now on, depending on the difficulty you’re on, will determine how long your enemy will be gone now (the default is no longer 15 seconds and is now 30 seconds).
    • When the players flashlight dies, they will now emit a very small light to help guide their way around.
    • There is now a new transition when attacking enemies
    • You can now destroy the Mask That Stops Time (to do so, have the axe in hand and go behind the mask).
    • The introduction camera now has a larger spotlight angle
    • If you hit an invisible border outside of Jacobs house, a transition will appear and will block the players view. This is to signify that Jacob will not leave on foot. The transition will go away once you step away from the invisible border(s).
    • New spider death animation
    • Drastically increased the grass texture on the ground.
    • Lengthened the wait time on the phone in the skeletons house to ring.
    • The players car now has a new color
    • Time goes up by an hour a bit slower now
    • Improved call conversation with Emily
    • Pausing the game is now mentioned
    • Changed & Improved some controls
    • Miscellaneous improvements
    • Updated copyright
    • Many bug fixes
