After much cussing and discussing, I got my MacBookPro 2017 running the HTC Vive hardware and working (mostly) with Unity version 2018.2.0b1

The SteamVR example scene files will sometimes work fine others for only a few seconds and then they drop the controller input events. Some examples worked fine and now are not.

The error that spams the console that I believe to be the issue is:
XRInputDeviceState: Failed to set the value at featureIndex [4]

There is zero on the interwebs for this error. The closes thing is MS's XBox XInput API.
FYI - I do have an XBox controller driver installed - but I don't think these are related.

Any inside information on this XRInputDeviceState: Failed to set the value at featureIndex [4] would be nice! Thank you!

EDIT: Seems issue is SteamVR Beta related - But only in Unity Editor, builds work. For more info see: https://forum.unity.com/threads/steamvr-beta-and-unity-native-inputs-issue.532188/
