All I'm trying to do is load up the free version of unity, not unity pro. I don't even have unity pro. However, I get this message:

"There was a problem validating the license because the Operating System identification seems to have changed."

It asks me if I would like to re-activate, but whenever I do it just hangs and doesn't do anything.

Again, I just want to use the free version, how can I do this?

Also, I've already uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I haven't used Unity in a while before today.

Oh wow, that did work. I guess I just assumed that was for a different problem.

    Thanks!

This fix did not work for me as there is no .ulf file located in the C:\ProgramFiles\Unity file. Anyone got another idea as to how to fix the license issue?

Are you sure? You checked out C:\ProgramData\Unity There should be one, If not try opening unity, and then try delete the ulf file

There's also not a .ulf file there for me, only the folders "Editor" and "MonoDevelop". i Tried opening unity and it still didn't appear. Also i have hidden itens set to show in case that could be a problem.

I bet some of you (as I, at first) looked in the ProgramFILES, not ProgramDATA directory.
    Thanks, guavaman!

This is exactly what I did wrong, don't forget that the ProgramData folder is hidden. You'll need to change some explorer settings to get hidden files to show up.

..I was just about to post here with that solution!

If you ever run into that sort of problem, deleting that file works 99% of the time after a quick re-install. If you still run into any problems, then drop us a ticket in free support so we can help.

guys thanks a lot it worked but as MrWahloh said you have to go to file explorer then to view ->options then select the view tab and check the show hidden files folders and drives option in order to see the programmdata folder which contains the file.
