I am close to finishing my first Unity game. The first game I have created since writing Z80 machine code games when I was 13. I started with the Smartfox FPS example and built my game around this. Not much of the original example is left. NOTE: You will need to install Smartfox server to run game. This is quite small and easy to do. I also have a server hosted at IP: 50.16.98.82, on the default port 9933. To play, you will need to download game using link below and enter these values on the connection screen. The twist in my FPS is powerups. I love BZFlag and the powerup idea was borrowed from it. Some examples of the powerups are: Wings: Gives player ability for short flights Shotgun: Shoots multiple projectiles Speedy: Run very fast There are 11 different powerups in total. I would love to get some feedback. I have played Zone with a few Counter Strike friends and we enjoyed it almost as much as CSS. But friends can be generous. So I would appreciate some unbiased feedback. Controls are standard FPS: Mouse - Look W - Forward S - Back A - Strafe left D - Strafe Right Ctrl - Crouch Shift - Walk R - Reload Space - Jump (or fly with wings) Q - Drop powerup Mouse Scroll - Zoom There are no Bots. You can run around by yourself, but you will need a friend to play a game. The game can be downloaded from the following sites: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/87201649/Zonev0.1.zip or zaddo.4shared.com
create a tutorial on how to start the server, or publish a server i wasn´t able to start smartfox, never used it if you want i can help you start a online server
Thanks for feedback logotom. I have a readme in the zip download that explains how to setup the smartfox server. I have also created a hosted server on Amazon Web Services. The IP is: 50.16.98.82 Port (default): 9933 The server is hosted in east coast US. I have found a few issues testing from Australia due to latency. But it is working. A couple times I got stuck connecting or starting a game. Trying again, allowed me to keep going. It might be better for US based people. I'll work on issues and build resiliency in for poor latency.
the looks pretty nice, with some more adjustments this can be a great game! i am playing right now so if anyone wants to join me....
