Games Zombie Outpost

    So I started on this project a few days ago and im very pleased at the progress so far

    Where am I headed with this?
    Well I kinda wanna head away from "what a game should be" and just take this in its own direction

    I was thinking this would be an open world zombie tower defense game!

    Sounds freaking insane doesnt it?

    Well heres my thinking behind the game

    everyone likes minecraft right? and everyone likes Bloons tower defense? well even if you dont thier both very popular games but wait whats the most sought after aspect of survival? ZOMBIES!

    In the middle of the map(the player spawn) will be an idol(maybe a statue) this statue will have a healthbar once it reaches 0 gameover

    The game will play just like a normal open world game(explore,build, kill anything u pass along the way) the world will be infested by zombies so you have to be careful while exploring

    every 30mins(or so in-game time) zombies all over the map will begin to migrate torwards the statue for a set amount of time

    For a better picture of how this will look

    State of decay(military addon) + Bloons tower defense(weapons system) + skyrim(open world and interactability) = Zombie Outpost

    Doesn't the natural game play of an open world directly oppose a tower defense type of game?
    In an open world game natural game play is exploration, crafting and survival, key emphasis paid towards exploration to gather resources to allow for the other two elements, crafting and survival.
    In a tower defense game natural game play is to hunker down and defend the lanes, areas, structures.
    Exploring and hunkering down are opposing, unless the 30 minutes time frame is the factor that would allow both of these opposing game play elements to be playable during the same game, but not at the same time.

    The 30min timeframe would allow the exploration of the map it makes the game more challenging for sure

    I'm also gonna have 2 modes one with the waves and one without kinda like survival and creative in a sense

    Exactly like that @RavenOfCode except more open world and doesn't have a "block" based crafting system
