    Hi all,

We just released YuME - Yuponic Map Editor to the asset store. YuME is a 3D tile map editor designed to allow you quickly prototype levels using the in-built prototype tile set, as well as production ready levels using your own models or tiles from the asset store.

YuME is loosely based on the tool we used to create Croc - Legend of the Gobbos as well as a whole host of PS1 era games back at the now defunct Argonaut Games. Croc kinda pioneered the use of 3D tiles for level building, and although they went out of favour a for a few years they are now back with a vengeance. Games like Super Mario 3D world, Pokemon, Atlas Reactor, and many more are built using similar concepts.

YuME is essentially three tools in one. There's the main Map Editor, but you also get a tool to import your own models into YuME, and a converter to take assets you might already purchased and bring them into YuME.

The tile importer take a single source file containing multiple tile objects and converts them into individual prefabs, all aligned and recentered on the origin. This is really useful when creating tile sets as it allows you to build all your tiles together, allowing you to easily check that they connect together perfectly.

Here are a few videos that show the tool in action, as well as how to import and convert your models and existing assets.

I've also uploads a video where I recreate a level from Captain Toad. It's a little long and I ended up adding moving platforms and character (completely unplanned) but it serves as an overview of some of the tools.

You can find YuME on the asset store here:

I hope you'll check it out and if you have any questions, please post them below!

    Cheers,

    Nic

We just uploaded a new video showing how to import Bitgem's Snake Temple asset into YuME and start building levels.

If you're interested in checking out YuME, you can get it from the Asset Store, here.

I've buy this tools, it's a good tools! & I've some suggestion, hope Yume Editor developer can add this feature:
    1. when import 3d model to yume, it will auto move each model to 0,0,0 to import, it's a good feature,
but use the model corner vertex is a bad idea, use model's pivot point will be best solution. (no need to use _bounds to define objects offset position)

    2. The Grid dimension setting reset everytime after [play] the build in unity. i need to set the grid to bigger number again & again to add/remove tiles. if it will save the grid dimension size will be great!

    3. Yume editor should add 2.5 tile function to free version, such a great feature should be promote to public.
(i didn't know this feature until i buy it.)

Hope Yuponic will add these feature in future, all the best!

Hey, great asset! The thing is, I'm coming across a slight problem. I have no idea why this is, but the tile stays in the middle of the grid and pressing the mouse button doesn't create the selected tile. Please help?

Hello, first of all I love the asset! It makes level building so much easier!
Just a quick suggestion, do you think you can make a material editor for the prefabs? Kind of like probuilders material editor? I think this would be a great feature!
Thank you for the asset :D

Hello, this asset does not work on 2020.1.x, produces a lot of deprecated warning, and missing instance of an object error.
    Will there be fixes coming?

Hi. I've just imported YuME into 2020.1.5 and I'm not seeing the deprecated warnings. Could you post a log?

Sorry for the false alarm, turns out I haven't updated Yume since a long time ago, updated the package, and it works correctly, thank you!

Hi. I am contemplating YUME. What I want is something that will assemble buildings from the Assets packs that I buy. Like Triplebrick, Arthur G., and others that have a demo scene, but you "could" make your own building (if getting them to snap together wasn't so tedious.) Hope you reply soon so I can decide. I played with the Free version. But what I need is something to make it easy to assemble from prefabs, meshes, etc.
