    Little thread for fun:)
Post you sins when working at a game!

Here are some of mine very EVIL ones;-):

    - Eating a lot of chocolate:p
    - Spending HOURS by placing particles, flowers, trees and other stuff instead of actually making the game
    - Strolling through forums

Getting high and listening to opera music while studying flower arrangement instead of developing.

Never expected you were a smoker. *insert surprised Pikachu here*

On topic: I also like to eat sweets, especially cakes, then I start to think if I could bake that cake and then I start searching the recipe :/

Going waaaaay past my original scope and creating an over-complicated mess, which only I can make sense of.

Also I want to add that When creating the design in the editor, I would think: "Man, if only I jotted down the design in my notebook first" So then I would pick up my notebook to do some design scratching and then, then I would create a different game with the same design :c.

Setting a variable to 2.0 or 2.5 because it’s clean, when actually 2.437 works better.
And spending more time tweaking said variable than writing the feature and moving to the next task.

I think a lot of people can identify with the first sentence. But the second one is actually areally funny and unique i think:)

I identify as much with the first than with the second...
Also, if I just pressed "report" instead of "reply" and I only realized it once it was done.

Looking for some magic solution I can find online which will make everything perfect, Instead of just rolling up my sleeves and doing it myself.

Getting half done with a feature, then working on another planned feature instead of finishing what I started.

Deciding that I should get better at something before using it in a "real" project, and then never getting better at it because I never want to work on something that isn't "real."

(See at minimum: art, shaders, ECS, matrix transformations, physics algorithms)

Mine would be not feeling the need to be dedicated to any one direction for my hobby projects.
Don't have that problem with the day job game but that's cause paychecks are a good motivator :D

You folks all have some strange behaviors but that's okay. Lol

When I am working... I work. Have to stay focused because I will only be working 1.5 hours or maybe only 45 minutes. The part about changing a value to 2.0 or 2.5 instead of what it actually should be... wow! Just set it to whatever and move on. Who cares if it is 2.437928615 or 2.0 it's just a value. It is funny though. LMAO :)

As much as I hate that I do it I seem to periodically touch up the visuals over the life of the project. Tweak the colors. Week later I should add more detail to that. Week later... probably should tweak the colors again. Week later... now the other stuff needs a bit more detail. I enjoy it and I hate it. I need to get back to using simple primitives and focus on visuals at the end. At least then all I can do is mess with the colors.

I do this on all my variables too xD

Also, changing the name of a variable or method because I think the new name explain it better or is more "in line" with other similar variables and having to change it everywhere, although I'm the only one that's going to read it.

Stopping mid feature implementation because I need to get up and go to work next day and forgetting the project exist because of all the fun development I do at work.

Gathering all the possible resources (software, domains and hardware to aid me with development) and preparing for publishing the game when it's not even 50% complete and then just procrastinating xD

Starting to work on the important bug, switching after a few moments to the new, but totally nonrelevant feature because it is much more fun and easier to work on, or it was a new idea I just had. :D

And for each item on the ToDo-List I can remove add 10 new ideas that Sound good, so the ToDo list never gets Shorter but Always longer and longer.

Ok, for the programmers out there, do you guys listen to music while coding or not? Personally, I can't. When I'm writing a document I can only listen to mild music, like Bossanova or jazz, and nothing else, if it is something else, I will get distracted for sure. When programming, I have to be in complete silence, or else ADD-ATTACK!!!

That's funny because I only code listening to New RetroWave in loop on youtube.
    Otherwise it feels empty.

I can listen pretty much anything what doesn't have words.
From classical / mediation, via jazz, to cinematic and new age music.
    Even prefer Uplifting action music.

I get what you are talking about, however I would also say correcting Unity's translation system when it puts in values like 4.934928742 for xyz, other similar positioning value inputs rects etc especially for ugui, gamobjects and even if working with snapping grids.... I would call this one of Unity's little evil sins that waste my time when working with it, because my OCD is set off by seeing x 5, y 4.988983, z: 5 ...

"That's funny because I only code listening to New RetroWave in loop on youtube."
My entire soundcloud like library list is along those lines, only soundcloud, winamp playlists are vastly different genres, somehow soundcloud just ended up becoming synthwave etc

When working in my full time Job, I do not listen to Music.
When working on my games in free time, and not testing them, I Always have Music turned on. Or sometimes watch Music Video Clips on Youtube, after a while more watching and listening than coding :)
But this time it keeps being fun in my free time...

Yeah ikr, I mean for me music works for nearly any scenario but I can't see myself coding with music. Maybe I should try it one day and see if it helps or ruins it. I just feel like I would start singing along and get nowhere xD

New Retro Wave is actually pretty awesome for coding, since it's soundtrack like and without lyrics.
Just put it at low volume and you're good for hours of coding! :p

Dance With the Dead is perfect for motivation!

Not always but fairly often I do. Energetic tunes... some AC/DC, Disturbed etc cranking fits my dev sessions well.

When I need to concentrate on writing non-trivial systems/algorithms, I'll listen to familiar, instrumental music. When it's more gruntwork code, or artwork, I'll listen to unfamiliar and/or non-instrumental music.

I figure that listening to vocals or unfamiliar music will divert your attention to the music and make you less engaged, concentration-wise, but it can also motivate you and push you forward when it's either grunt code, or when you need inspiration to create some new art.

I have to listen to music I know REALLY well if I'm going to code with music. Finding new or even slightly unfamiliar music goes out the window when I need to think. But then it gets boring because there's only so much you can listen to the same songs over and over for decades on end.

This song is so bizarre a and so beautiful! I used to listen it on loop in the 2000's !!
    That and this one:

And then I switched to Disturbed

    I'm quite eclectic :p
