XR: OpenVR Error! OpenVR failed initialization with error code VRInitError_Init_PathRegistryNotFound: "Installation path could not be located (110)"!

Any Idea about why the editor is telling me this on Unity 2017.2?

    Thanks

Reads like OpenVR isn't setup on your computers... is it installed, do other OpenVR applications work?

For the records, the problem still isn't solved. I'm not interested in installing Steam and SteamVR on my office PC just to get rid of this annoying error message. I tried loading in the SteamVR plugin from the asset store but that's not enough.

Any simple solution to this? I'm getting the same thing on my Mac in Unity 2017.3 on a project I've just joined... I've switched the build target to Android, but I can't just delete OpenVR from my project because it's used on other targets.

Any idea how to avoid this error?

Project settings -> Player -> XR settings.
    Uncheck Virtual Reality Supported.
