"Wrap non AppError: unexpected EOF" - awesome job on the lightning sale

Got 3 items at 90% off. But I get this after submitting payment. Did I buy them? Who knows.

 

I did't even get that far, everything gives that error

 

Unbelievably horrible customer experience Unity...seriously.

 

Open an editor, the Package Manager a bit faster, you can see if it is among your assets.
I wanted to buy 4 assets, 3 went through, despite the error message. (Also got the emails from PayPal ).


But the Asset Store is basically crushing under load.

 

I wonder If even Unity invested couple of bucks to increase load on their asset store servers for this sale. I just have doubts.

 

I had 4 items in my cart before the sale, just waiting. Now, can't refresh. So sad.

 

You can't buy through cart, only through the "Buy Now" button.

 

It now gives me
"Internal server error: Fail to get redis data"

 

It was totally not foreseeable that Unity's own customers would DDOs the servers.
And it will continue, thanks lightning deals!

 

They know how to spend $1.5B, but they can't take my $30

Mine did not. Imagine 1,000 people crashing your servers. Maybe they need to upgrade from their moms basement? This is absolutely stupid. I had 3 items in my cart to buy and it crashed as I was buying them. Why in the hell would they make this sale then limit the quantities and not be prepared for as lot of users logging in? Please for the love of God fire someone for this. I want a head to roll.

 

IDK, I'm mildly interested, wouldn't buy it for $90, but for $9 it was worth it to check out.

 

Ah well, hope the deals I was trying to get are still available later. Really need to get some sleep now.

 

They wont be, this was all a terrible gimmick that came back to smack them in the face. So pissed at this juvenile operations.

 

I don't think they can charge you a different price than the one you clicked on when confirming the purchase.
It would need to throw an error and cancel the purchase if the price changes during that time.

Completely agree. This is the worst style of discount they could've done honestly, and it's surprising to me that they didn't actually expect the website to be in the state that it is...

 

I was on asset store when the sale kicked in, never even had a chance to buy any lightning deals, just got same error everyone else did. Bots got us here too? Ridiculous.

True. I started recorded my purchases when I saw a quantity of 20 per item to be able to refund them if they somehow change me the full price due to some error on their end

No, i bought at 90% off but they charged at like 50% off.

 

Thank you for telling me that! Fortunately, I had three of the four tabs of the products I wanted still open. So the Buy Now buttons actually worked!

I didn't managed to get any at 90% off even though I was right on time.., or even 80% off for that matter. Page was crashing all the time..

i wasn't able to buy Animancer at 90% because of store going down now it's on 70%. damn it.

Yeah I am mad but aint bitching about 70%. I got 4 deals so I will take what I can get. Just drunk and angry but in the end I got what I wanted. I am just mad my cart said 90 and it didnt charge me 90.

I was also gonna try to buy Animacer (or at least would have tried if I was lucky to be quick enough), but was not able to get through not at 90% off, not at 80% off. Now it's 70% off, true, but I'm so angry at the whole experience that not even going to bother anymore.

I could not even get the 70% deals, shoulda got drunk first. I'm not even trying for any other deals its a waste of time like the New Egg Shuffle "deals"...

 

Didn't get any. Error all the time....... Damn, such as a waste of time. Why even bother sell something customers can't buy.........

 

Incredibly frustrating experience to stay up 4 hours later that I should have for the 90% sale only to not be able to purchase anything. I spent 40 minutes trying to load the page or to get something into my cart. By the time anything was loading, the assets were no longer 90% off.

 

To be frank I didnt expect myself to get stuff for 90%...ppl write bots and are super fast when buying. But I had my eye one some stuff even with 70% discount, but the messs the asset store is, can't...and tbh I refuse to get those to give Unity money at this point.

 

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier, waited for the 90% off deal on a $108 product, proceeded through the purchase and I got charged $64... so it was 50% off plus tax, I can't afford that.
