Would this be a good idea for beginners to learn?

Hey guys & gals, I was wondering if this would be a good idea to teach beginners.

The game I'm making right now, it's like a 2.5d Crash Bandicoot (NOT THE GAME), just how it plays reminds me of Crash lol.

    But anyways,
I was thinking once the game is done, would it be a good idea to package up the entire game and sell it on the asset store for a fair price (As a learning material).

    That way they can either

    A) Use all the code(s) for their game.
    B) Figure out how things were implemented.
    C) ETC.

    Sounds reasonable.

    Thanks Graham.

I may upload a partially created game I was working on, (it's just a single level) but it can show how everything was implemented for a 3d Like Frogger game.

(The only thing different is you have full control where your player is, not jumping to the next Unit like frogger does.)
I'll probably put a webplayer demo up so people can understand exactly what's going on so they can see it before purchasing it.

    It's a neat idea.

I recently did the same thing with my game (not the same type of game), and hasn't been doing well on the asset store yet. Of course you could argue that there's maybe some difference in quality or depth but I haven't found these types of things to be particularly popular on the asset store (not just mine.) So it's a great idea, but don't set your expectations too high. :)

I've found that game frameworks (with the end developer in mind) sell much better.

    Yeah I hear you..

I'm about to submit it actually.
I did almost an hour and a half video explaining every single thing as well as all codes commented.
And go through literally how every single thing works and how things interact with each other.

It could be used to make your own game, but likewise it could be used to just learn and stuff as well.

I hope it helps people, but who knows lol.

Yeah I did a bunch of commenting and documentation for the same reason. I think the key is figuring out how to get people to find your asset - let me know when you do.

Well I think one thing that will help is being as active as possible on the forums... I see you've been a member sense last year in June....

I've been a member sense march but started being active with communicating with anyone until like 3 or 4 months ago.

And got almost 500 messages sense then.

People see your signature more often then :)

Place links on the Asset Store Forum as well.
But all in all I guess the main thing is being very very active member and have more people viewing your stuff.

Those things are all helpful but I haven't noticed the links in my sig to be particularly helpful. Personally I rarely ever pay attention to what's in signatures. I think you get a fair amount of views from an asset thread though.

Yeah I doubt too too many people look, I always glance at the signatures, but I know I dont have money so I don't usually click to purchase stuff lol.
