WIP Zeke Beaver

    Hi there,
    This is my first post, and first endeavour into creating a game. It's the first bare-bones no frills version of what hopefully will become a full fledged game...

    Right now it's a new year's greeting in the form of a mini game, but at the same time a startingpoint of a new adventure into game-land and a teaser of new endeavours in 2015.

    I stripped some gameplay elements I already implemented (like jump, picking up items, some particle effects), for the purpose of showing people this first experiment in it's most pure and minimalistic way, and i think it might be good practice to first have a good feel for the movement and overall form before adding too much bells and whistles (it's even quite monochrome at this point which for the purpose makes sense but color, texture and atmosphere is on the to-do list ;) )

    I will post my ideas on gameplay, style, story etc. later, but I hope you see the potential and please let me know if you have advise at this early stage.

    My name's Mike and I'm a motion graphics designer/3d generalist, but studied sculpture, so you could say i'm pretty auto-didact ;) My 3d modeling/animation software of choice is maya, c4d, zbrush. Well check out www.phonk.nl to check out my 'regular' work ;)

    It looks really cool, I really like the art style. Is the game going to be a platformer?

    Hey Samuel thanks for the thumbs up there! Yes the initial idea is mainly a platformer, but like to add maybe some adventure elements in there. It's really a jamsession, en hope to build towards something more concrete. Right now it's a lot of brainstorming and working on story, and gameplay ideas.

    I realised after seeing some more WIP threads that a devlog would be a cool thing to have to collect ideas and show the progress. So I quickly set up one here at www.phonk.nl/zekebeaver

    Artwork not quite finished yest, but I posted some posts on gameplay, story, props and tech. Please letmeknow if you have ideas to improve it!
