[WIP] [UNITY] Open World - Update #5 (Vehicle Damage)

    Hey guys!

    I'm an independent game developer

    This is a new game I'm working on!
    It's a open world based game and I intent to make more updates very soon!
    Each update will vary depending on how much work goes in.

    If you mention gta, it's not woth showing until you have differentiated circulation and loading unloading of terrains with circulation instantiated at load time. THEN have agent behaviors ...

    What you have now cost 100$ on the asset store, a download and minimal set up. Not worth caring about neither showing!

    I think this comment was incredibly harsh and unnecessary! So you aren't impressed with what the OP has shown in his first post, but did you need to be so unkind about it?

    The video likely represents a fair amount of work by the OP and he is probably (and quite rightly so) pleased with his work and wants to show it to someone.

    Furthermore this particular part of the forum is a showcase for 'works in progress', not 'works substantially completed' and there's every chance this could be the start of a long term devlog which shows the creation of a full blown game from it's very inception.

    Lastly, I had a quick look at your post history, and I didn't see any evidence of you posting threads about projects you yourself have finished and released, which further helps to depreciate the value of your comment in my opinion.

    Well, anyway I'm looking forward to seeing how this game pans out, it may or may not succeed, but let's at least wait and see!

    It's not harsh:
    1. it start with a conditional
    2. it give constructive element to help steer in the right direction
    3. it contrast with practice to show there might be unnecessary effort to refocus the effort toward the right place (terrain and circulation, behavior)
    4. I didn't say op was worthless or insulted him and should stop

    OP ask for constructive criticism
    I give him something to focus his effort the best to get best result faster, so that's positive

    Empty praise would have negative effect and he would be no wiser to where to achieve his goal

    That's your interpretation, however I showed your post to two other people before replying, to gauge their reaction, and it was the same as mine.

    This doesn't come across as constructive criticism to me. However I've made my point and I won't derail the thread further.

    But it's not meant, I mean the core difficulty of a gta game is not in character movement, and there is many asset store that does that better, it's wasted efforts and misleading focus. If he don't focus on the right thing he will fail like many people who attempted the same before him, and there is thousand of them. Working on the movement will only give false hope. False hope will destroy him even more surely as it has happen time and time again. I do take that into account. That's where it is constructive. You have to understand that GTA style is a very specific endeavor and is massively ambitious, it frame very tightly the context unfortunately.

    Notice there is a UNTIL after the not worth showing.

    That's the point, you are spending time on thing that are solved and ready made (it's more efficient to buy them) and doing none of what matter about GTA.

    I have more to offer than this, I already have a base on my game, but I want to make a series of the game being built up over time, I have more experience than most of the videos I've found over youtube, just keep watching :)

    Thankyou for the help, I have changed the title just to Open world for now :)

    Start working on terrain loading and circulation simulation, open world and gta have the same problem and it's not the character ... I'll be sad to see you go that far and fail at those like most people before you :(
