    Hello everyone,

I want to show a new project I am working on at T4 Interactive, a brand new game dev startup founded by experienced developers. The game is SOULLINGs, a village building and crafting game about Gods. Imagine a mix of Banished, Stonehearth and Black & White (maybe a little bit of Settlers too) :)

We have 4 months of work so far, lots of placeholders, but lots of nice features already working. The game should have 20 professions (10 working already), more than 200 items/objects to harvest or craft (more than 50 working so far), god diplomacy, trade, etc. Our main features, and difference from those games, are the details we want to add in your village building. We tried to mix fantasy with realistic behaviours. In example, they need to eat 2 times a day, they need to sleep, chat, have fun and study. And then there are the dangers of the Soul Lands.

Trade or fight with other gods, protect your village against thieves (set patrol routes for your guards, they are not just there to fight), provide food (more than 15 types of food, meals, etc), create objects and places where they can have some fun at night... and remember to respect the dead (you can build a graveyard). We have tons of things already to show :)

Small GIF (I cant make it work here in this forum =/ )

Please, if you have any comments (and especially because here is the Unity Forums), I will be glad to try to help other developers with doubts in this kind of game (in the best way possible, lol).

    Cheers

The character style is very appealing. Its a solid colored semi-low poly look that is a very clean style.
Consider extending that style to the rest of the environment assets.
The trees, grass and fences (a little) share this style, but everything else doesn't match, and looks kinda - meh.
Especially the overly harsh normal maps applied to the buildings. Removing those would improve the look, but the buildings would still not have the same appealing look the characters do.

Thanks, the character style and concept was originally created for the game, many of these assets are still placeholders (and also many of then you can even find on Asset Store). Buildings will change completely, probably also the UI :)
Actually what you said that fits the style it will be used in the game, not the buildings for sure. We are in negotiations with a few publishers, so we can have the resources we need to go ahead. Our focus was really to build the looks and feels of the game first, together with the systems :)
