    A fun game I am working on.



    Each color is a team and weapons can only kill the team of the same color. A certain velocity must be reached to kill a character. NPCs currently search for weapon, then attack moves to the NPC with the same color as their weapon.

    Now add some blood and guts flying everywhere XD. Looks smooth. Hows the performance when you add 30 characters?

    I definitely want to add blood and guts at some point to spice up the smashing. With 30 characters I'm getting a steady 70 FPS with 8 GB of ram with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760. I tried 60 characters and still 70 FPS. 90 characters got me 30 FPS though.

    I like the idea that the main fun from this game will be from the different ways you can smash the polygons, so an item that turns you into a tornado is a great suggestion, thanks mate.

    I swear I didn't pose him, he just decided to put his right leg on top of a mace, as if he's tough s***.

    I improved the physics by a ton so that there are no cheating (like setting velocity directly, or any of the transform component values). The NPCs don't do a lot because I haven't enabled them to bend down and reach for the weapons yet. Let me know what you think!

    How do you get the humans so floppy, final IK or softbody? It's weird but interesting.

    It's actually extremely simple: all I have is a ragdoll with a constant force component on the head and pelvis joint, head force goes up, and pelvis force goes down. Then I rotate the pelvis using torque and move the pelvis using forces.

    Help me test the game!

    Hey guys I have uploaded a version of the game to itch.io. If you want to test smashing polygons, then please download and SMASH!

    It's 13 MB zipped, and 30 MB unzipped.

    Nice mechanic. My only suggestion is to make multi-player.
    Helping each others to achieve some goals together.
    Should be very fun to play, streamer might play your game live too.
    You can even make this into party game like Gang Beasts as well.

    Thank you for offering your help Akira it means a lot.
    I am still figuring out what exactly the game will be, so I don't have any specific models in mind. However I really like the idea of having a small town where the player has to eliminate all of the polygons. So this would include roads, houses, trees, rocks.... you get the idea.

    So once again I don't have a clear vision of the scenery, but if you feel like it, then modeling town parts would probably be the direction I would go towards.

    Or if you're feeling especially creative, why not model something that YOU think would fit the game? Maybe you inspire me to steer the direction of the game ;)

    I don't know why your idea remind me of Katamari series.
    Destroying a town is definitely not epic enough.:D

    I couldn't help my self...

    I tried to make the game simpler by removing the player character and instead I implemented this "God" system where you can drag objects around from above. But after going back and forth from God to Player I realized that it felt so good to move around in the world, so I merged the best of both worlds into a new system: Possessing!

    Now you can drag stuff, AND move around by possessing characters (and objects, like knives, a banana, or heck, possess your dirty laundry! No ones judging!)!

    Imagine possessing a pitchfork, then slinging yourself into a polygon. You sick bastard.

    I had a play, couldn't work out how to spawn polys and maces of a specific colour, they always seemed to be my colour so I couldn't do any damage with them :(
    I did manage to punch a few dudes.

    Picking up weapons is really difficult, are you meant to go into pickup mode and then fall on the weapon with C? haha that's the only way I could do it anyway.
    Also, how do you drop stuff? I finally manage to pickup and press the remote bomb... then couldn't throw it in time :p

    Looks like the makings of a fun game anyway, looking forward to your next build!

    I'm glad you enjoyed the old version on itch.io Serinx, you may be the first person to download and play it (only 4 downloads, 3 of them might have been me :3).

    I wanna make something clear though: that build is OLD and I have added a ton of stuff to the game since then that has made the game so much more fun:

    Possessing objects and Characters
    Dragging physics objects

    A pitchfork
    A sticky ball
    Blood particles

    And of course, a shiny dildo
    And a bunch of other stuff...


    For future reference though that build like I said is old, and I just played it yesterday and noticed that the Escape menu has some broken info. Here's the controls for that build:

    V - extend arms
    F - bend down and extend arms
    Left Mouse Button - [Pickup Mode: make left hand stick/activate item] [Punch Mode: left hand punch]
    Right Mouse Button - [Pickup Mode: make right hand stick/activate item] [Punch Mode: right hand punch]
    Q - drop left hand item
    E - drop right hand item
    C - enable ragdoll
    R - toggle between punch and pickup mode
    Spacebar - jump
    U - restart scene


    And here are the "Debug Controls":

    1 - spawn an idle NPC
    2 - spawn an NPC that attack moves towards you
    3 - spawn a mace with random color
    4 - spawn a sticky bomb
    5 - spawn a pistol
    6 - spawn a sticky bomb launcher
    7 - spawn a laser cube


    For spawning stuff, you have to click on the button "Spawn Polygon Options" and then click the sliders to set the amount that you want to spawn. The maces only spawn your color (it's made like that so that the NPCs pick up your colored mace to kill you :D).

    Here's a "how-to" on throwing a sticky bomb:
    1. Hold F to bend down and hold left/right or both mouse buttons to make sticky bomb sticky to hand(s)
    2. spin around by pointing mouse around your character (to gain some momentum)
    3. press the respective mouse button to activate the bomb (for best results, only have bomb in one hand)
    4. press respective "drop" key to drop item (Q or E)
    5. run away before you go boom boom

    Hope this helps and that you can squeeze out some more enjoyment from the OLD BUILD.

    @Machineman Wow, thanks for the detailed reply. I suspected it was an old build haha.
    I might have another go at it, are you planning on releasing a new build to itch any time soon? I might wait till then.

    I would love for you to play the newest version, but the current build is not very stable and like the old build, it's not very intuitive.

    Once I have something that looks like an actual game, you will be the first to know :)

    I could use your hot feedback.

    Currently the game has 3 player modes, and some modes have modes inside them:
    - God Mode (orbit around and can drag stuff)
    - Drag Mode
    - Apply Force Mode
    - Character Mode (you control a character)
    - Object Mode (you control a physics object)

    I think they could be called something better, so I'm asking for suggestions, and they better be good, or else you'll end up like Jerry...

    Looks like you’re putting a lot of effort into making your core mechanics fun and not worrying about what your actual game is yet. That’s awesome, I think this mechanic looks fun as hell and has some awesome potential. Following you now.
