Sorry for posting another model so soon after the last, but I have another free model for you guys. Really needed to up the ante on my weaponry work, so I spent my Saturday creating a Barrett M107 from a high poly reference model. Sorry if this post is a bit image heavy (I got carried away taking glamour shots)

    Download link at the bottom :) 107screen08.png 107screen10.png 107screen11.png 107screen13.png

Feel free to download the model here:
    (download link)
I hope some of you can find this useful

Credit to Jaxy for a phenomenal reference model.

Going for a bit of a 60s 70s SciFi feel for our game, think it's close?

After a ton of polishing we've got the Ship Selection interface just about exactly where we want it to be.

Enjoy that short glimpse of sweet, sweet background information. :D
Now, the only thing remaining is to clear up some minor gameplay bugs and integrate new "Choose your ship, pilot!" hangar music.www.wingsofstnazaire.com

    Introducing

    "Bag Face"

My newest original character. Just recently finished creating this guy.

Low poly, fully rigged, game ready model. Created some basic animations for him and already set him up in unity. This guy will be the main character for my next game project. Which is pretty much just a random idea I had, but I don't care, Im going to make it a real thing! :)

    more soon!

Heres a little playable teaser web demo I put up for my next upcoming game starring my Bag Face character I posted here earlier.

its nothing fancy but here you go if you wanna try... (Drop box link)
    Try it HERE

pretty much its just a random game idea I am throwing together. If any of you remember "Forest Soup", the game I released during halloween last year, I guess this project might be something like it. Just a bunch of random things.

    More soon.

Ever since The Hero's Journey I've wanted to create my own 3D tiles, that use my own art style. After much fudging with Blender (getting it to properly obey my commands and render properly, mostly), I have done it and created...the humble Topsoil block!

    asvarduil-3d-tiles.png

The texture still has much to be desired...BUT! Topsoil today, game worlds, tomorrow!

Working on a volumetric cloud system. Lots more work needs to be done for optimization, but I think the added visuals are worth it!
    To do:
    -Dynamic spawning of clouds.
-LoD system that replaces volumetric clouds with flat texture map when you get far enough away.
    SWorlds.png

I like the simplistic clean style!

Thanks, Zelda is probably one of my greatest sources of inspiration, particularly the style used in 'A Link to the Past'. Modern gamers expect snazzier styles and more colors to happen in a particular tile (after all, we only have millions of colors to work with), but I think the underlying philosophy of the blocks - simple, stylized, self-explanatory - is ultimately the way to go with game art; simple stuff can be inexpensively created, allows the player to intuitively grasp it, and has its own character.

I'm still working on the 3D tiles. I'm using a slightly different art style that I'm refining. I've found that working on the 'center' blocks first (the lower ones) is a better idea, since border blocks just add details to the center block.

My plan for now is to make many commonly-needed tile types (e.g. stone, snow, ice, volcanic rock), and put the pack on the asset store. I don't think I've released anything on Unity's asset store before, and I don't see this being quite as labor intensive as a game project. What's more, I need to improve on my art anyways, I probably should have done this a long time ago.

Doing now houses for sale in Asset Store. Is there an interest? Do you have any suggestions?
Everything is made on the same texture atlas of the same material. Well suited for mobile devices. For first-person shooters is not suitable. Only for isometric.

    One word: Dang! Nicely done.

As for me, it's time to rock and/or roll!

    asvarduil-3d-tiles-3.png

I also dropped the contrast on all of my existing tiles by about 30 points, since background tiles aren't very important objects, and as such don't require as much contrast as other entities someone might create. These are pretty backgrounds, not the main attraction.

    New day, new 3D Tiles!

    asvarduil-3d-tiles-4.png

I've added the Stone Block tiles, reworked my sand and soil tiles, and have started attempting to create wood tiles. Wood is hard. :(

Also, I'd really like some C&C on this; how is it coming? Where do I improve?

The 2 stone tiles look the best so far - they are similar to some of the hard surface blocks you used in Hero's Journey, which I liked :)

Not a fan of the tile on the far left (Sand?) - the lines just seem a bit random to me and I'm sure how good it would look on a large area. Not sure how to change it though, as I imagine when doing 'fine' and 'organic' blocks in such a simple art style is quite tricky!

The one that's just to the right of the rocky tiles is the actual sand tile. The far left one is supposed to be wood. I'm trying for a similar style to some of the breakable blocks in Shovel Knight:

(Block in question is located just to the left of Sir Shovelsalot:)

I did a lot of model painting so its very comparable

here are some eggs thats been fixed up. Im not really breaking the mold with them, they're eggs... but they're spiky and colourful

    Hello Guys.
I'm new in this thread but I've read ALL the 82 pages and I just keep amazed by the quality here! I'm myself an Illustrator with experience working on animation and graphics for games. This is a pixelart practice I did using Ike from Fire Emblem with the Smash Wii U design:

    Original design:
    http://www.smashbros.com/images/character/ike/main.png

It was my first Pixelart since I work in pure hi-res for anything but wanting to learn new stuff, any feedback will be appreciated! Hope you like it! I'll show you more of my stuff later with more time :)

Ah, sorry for the confusion! I think you either need to add more lines (less contrasted ones) to try and imitate wood grain, or perhaps even a planked / tiled look would work better in this sort of style.
