    Zelda!!!
heh heh. I hope your princess will give the character some sort of cool item or power in your game.

Anyway, as simple as it is I like it. You should try and add in some detail to the dress though like clothes wrinkles or shadows. is good mr Asvarduil, is good.

Edit: also, I like the pixel work so far FireMe!

Thanks. This is my very best hair shading yet. I'll have to start working on the dress. Good thing I got a book that talks in part about how clothing reacts as far as wrinkles and stuff is concerned.

Mr Asvarduil, can I interest you in this

(Not my image) This is from ConceptCookie website. Tim Von Rueden created this and I think its a pretty good thing to look at for creating pixel art.
here is the full page and where I got the image from http://cgcookie.com/concept/2013/11/04/exercise-creating-pixel-characters/

I saw this earlier today and really liked it. I thought of you actually, I was like "Hey, I should show this to that one guy I see often on the unity forums, Asvarduil"

Im more into making 3d art myself but I have always loved pixel art. I just never attempted it before.

That is reallly brilliant, thanks for sharing!

It's not too bad. Hitherto, I've not used the process defined there (actually I did it with a program only slightly more advanced than MS Paint), but it requires some thought. Because I've done it, I'm actually pretty significantly faster at pixels than at 3D modelling, rendering, and skinning.

The stuff I'm doing here is me practicing a hand-drawn style, more similar to what Kelde does. I also forsee hand-drawn techniques being easier to animate, which is something I've had a hard time with in pixel art, even with all the practice I've had.

That just oozes style, everything about it is simply fantastic. The hair's probably my favourite bit, really like that angular/chiselled look - great job! :D

Thanks a lot Tweedie, CharlieSamways and Snowconesolid ! :) Glad you like it

A 3d printed version would be awesome indeed. I'm still searching for a good service that can print colors as well and isn't too expensive.
Would be cool to have my sculpt between Bioshocks BigDaddy and a Killzone Helghast :D

So, I applied snowconesolid's pixel theory. Prepare for your mind to be relatively blown!

    $generic young male.png

The only issue is that, using my tablet at lower resolutions makes for more obvious line art errors; I have to use the pencil to make a mark worth seeing, as the tutorial says. Coloring is easier because of this, though. I'm also applying my 'scribble shading' to this as well, as it seemed to work for my pretty pretty princess.

man! There is mind guts all over my computer desk now because of the explosion! And Its not my theory I just shared it from concept cookie. :)

but yeah, I think that is a step up from your princess pixel. It feels like there is more there. Like I see you added some shadows and that beautiful flowing green hair looks great! When it comes to using a tablet for me I suck. I rarely ever use mine. I feel like I do better with a mouse. Even if I am sculpting in 3d, I sculpt with mouse even though a tablet is more ideal haha.

Anyway, I feel like I need to post something here today since I havent in a while.

So, that screen is my newest character I am working on for my new "Secret" game project I am working on which I haven't revealed yet because (ITS A SECRET!). I won't say much more heh heh. Did I mention its a secret!?!

I have created the character with two different eyes, a more realistic humanistic type eye (on the Right) and just a nice simplified cartoony eye thats like a black dot (left). What do you guys think? which one looks better? I originally created the more humanistic eye but then I tried the cartoony black eclipse for an eye and I really like that but can't decide which to keep in final model. at the moment Im leaning for the cartoony eye more because I feel it matches the characters overall style more.

Wow Asvarduil, that's some great progress over the last few drawings - much crisper, and I love the hair :D

Snowconesolid, I prefer the eyes on the left at the moment, but it'd be nice to see the guy on the right with some eyelids, as at the moment he looks pretty scared of something ;)

Good work though guys, keep it up!

So sick. Earlier on, the folds on the shins were bothering me, like they were too similar in size or something, but now that I look at it again I can't fault them. Keen to see more of your stuff, dude!

Tried a speed sculpt of a cartoony chick:

Going to fix it up tomorrow, it's too masculine and alien at the moment.

Spent some time helping a friend turn some random doodles into 3D models for a Uni project. This one is a fish/crab/lobster/sea creature thing. Quick and dirty render done in Unity ofc:

    Cheers!

Here's the low poly mesh of the face:

And also a first pass of some animations I've been working on for a super secret game:

Still some errors here and there, and improvements to be made.

That, inspired me to create this:

    $blue-haired girl thumbnail.png

I drew the lineart at 640x640, I scaled to 320x320 where I colored and strengthened the lines, then reduced to 160x160 for the final thumbnail image. It's not intended to be 'pixel art', so much as a hand-drawn thumbnail sort of like this:

...I'm still a ways away from something like that, though...

I really like that, I'm guessing it's mouse done? Guy has a wee bit of a lean to the front left I think? Could do with being rotated to stand up straight and his left leg lengthened a touch. Get some shading in there!

    He looks like a blacksmith.

This is a rough concept for a character in my next project, after I'm done with The Hero's Journey...

Yes, I was going for the Link to the Past Zelda look with her, too. Only, more armor. She needs it.
