A bit frustrating,...left clicking doesn't display the sword animation, I don't know if I am swinging. If I hold it down though,..I can see the sword.

the walking and jumping, camera all seem fine,.it's just that sword thing making it difficult.

    cheers

Thank you Neptune, Asvarduil and Virror! And thanks Asvarduil those are some great things you pointed out I agree. Especially on the eyes I thought they where to big. I will keep practicing. And nice little cave demo you made there. I really enjoy that style you used. I couldn't figure out how to attack with my sword though.

Also really nice work on the environment HellCaller and great car models CarKing. (I see why that is your username) Keep it up

Fixed the sprite system bug that was causing that. Try again, why dontcha?

In playing through I also happened across a harsh realization: I need to add a health restore pickup. Even though I didn't design enemies to be so damaging, they are, which is a separate issue.

Playing that, I was pretty sure the sword didn't work at all.

Thanks to Fishman92, SnowConeSolid, and Welby, I solved my problem (it's code, so appropriately I responded about it on the other games thread.) Now I can get back to making hybrid 2D/3D bling again!

    Thanks guys!

It has quite the interesting back story. Got into it with the girlfriend, and after, I just sat down and made that. Maybe I'll upload a web-player sometime. As per the game, that's all it really is at this point, you just walk around and check out the world. Would love to expand upon it at a later date.

It's based roughly upon the first game I made with 'Far' in the title.

I always wanted to play something like a Gidzilla-Sim. Now I'm making it.

I currently call this thing DestroyKillDestroy. You are the Monster and you destroy Stuff. You can punch, throw, climb and shoot with a laser (or whatever it is). By destroying you get Highscore- and Mutationpoints. Those Mutationpoints can be spend on speed, strength and stuff like that. The city is random generated (modular) and more and stronger military forces are going to attack you as you progress.

There's still a lot to do, but I finally got it to a somewhat playable state.

Digging the art style. Hoping to see more soon. Just 2d art or a mix of 3d as well?

I am working on a "Toon Proto pack".
I did a building, 97 tris, 80verts, 32x32 pixels detail texture (not low poly but close ) and here is how it looks with Toon shader 1.5
The character is Alice by piccolo, available at 4.75Euro, on which I also used Toon shader 1.5.
    $Screen Shot 2013-03-29 at 1.08.35 PM.png

Also, an outlined version of this model ( notice the "inner" outlines ). 111 verts, the rest same as above. $Screen Shot 2013-03-29 at 1.34.21 PM.png

Nice work Khyrid. It looks good.

Anyway. As some of you know I am training improving my 3d skills and recreated some of the zelda characters.
I just uploaded my first "improvement" demonstration project that just lets you walk around and see my recent works.

You can walk around in a small simple town I created for level design practice and get a better closer look at those zelda models I remade for character training practice.

Still not satisfied with my skill level so I will continue to practice until I am before I jump back into making more games. I will put up more "Improvement" practice projects every once in a while as demonstrations the more I improve to show if I have improved since the last last one.

heres the first one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/50235309/Improvement Project1/WebPlayer.html

Took my coder hat off today and started working on a character model for my current project. Trying for an anime JRPG style similar to what Luna Online had. Still needs UVs and Rigging and I probably should put some clothes on it too but I wanted to see what you guys thought of it so far.

I'm impressed for programmer art. Send me a PM if you want a quick UV layout.

I am creating a series of models with vertex color information only. I think it would be interesting to create a game entirely with vertex color - no textures at all :)

Here are a few simple cubes if you are interested to see more.

@KheltonHeadley - Thanks, glad you like my programmer art. :)

Thanks, and thank you for the offer but I already did the UV layout before calling it last night.
    $characterconcept02.png
Going to start working on texturing it today.

I'm a big fan of embedding vertex color into my models though I tend to use it for a combination of lighting, shadow and ambient occlusion data. It'll be Interesting to see what you can do with only vertex color.

    More programmer art!

    $sidescroller-2.png

Working on the Castle, the main hub of where you get information on where to go next in the game. I've already got some human guards in who tend to have better memory than some of the royal family. They agreed to be in this shot, because I improved their dental plan.

Implemented shadows and normal maps support in the upcoming Toon Shader Desktop.
An example closer to realism, for change :)
On the left, Toon shader Desktop, on the right the built in shaders.
    Model from unity stealth project.
The Toon shader desktop is not intended to be used for "realistic" effects but with some tweaking can give acceptable results.

Pixel art time, with mixed English and Japanese. I occasionally do this, as it helps me understand my lines better when pixeling, but this time I'm actually going public with one...

Question, for any native Japanese speakers: Did I choose the right Kanji for 'Yuusha no Enro'? I went with that because (at least according to this online dictionary), 'Yuusha' with the given Kanji can mean 'man of valor', and 'Enro' with the given Kanji can mean 'long road' or 'journey'. Of course, having taken Japanese as one of my secondary languages, I'm also unfamiliar with some of the relationships of various kanji. I hope my international friends can help me with this one!

Further: are the kanji even readable without going beyond 3x zoom?

EDIT: Fixed contrast, extended the cross-strokes on 'enro'.

Colors are too dark in some spots and it doesn't read well. The outlines are great. Just fix the contrast between fill colors and it'll read a lot better.

I am confused by the fact that most female characters in video games have large breasts. Males of course are usually sporting an equally large codpiece. With the short hair and lack of immediate gender protrusions I get confused. The problem is not with the art but my own lack of understanding subtlety.

Well, that is definitely a Sheila. I was mistakenly looking at the Tintin character.

Looks good. How is your workflow? It looks like the face is much further developed than the hair.

Better, but still a very subtle change.

    $858WZVu.png

Notice how they blend together. Yours have very sharp transitions. I usually limit myself to 4 colors an object, if your following the same scheme, try to get the colors to blend as nicely as possible (the darkest color in that example being a 5th outline color). If your heart is however set on those colors, try some dithering. On that note, I leave you all with this:

    $znNzVRT.png

If any of you are at all interested in my little side project, I can upload a webplayer. For now, I think I'll leave it alone for a bit though...

I have a difficult time with contrast on a good day. I'll take your suggestions and work with them.

And please, upload a webplayer, that project looks pretty swag!

In regards to the sculpting, I try to work out main proportions first before going into any details. Then just rotating between working on different areas of the face fixing and improving things. When I can't see anything more, it means I should come at it later with fresh eyes, as it's obviously got a long way to go.

TonyNowak far is looking pretty nice!

Havent been very active on the unity forums as I usually am lately but I am still practicing improving. More character modeling practice.
This time working on a character I made up instead of remaking one. Its still a little rough but I am much more comfortable with sculpting now than I was with my previous models. Im looking to get a good end result on the final model here.

Its just some basic character that looks like a deer hunter/woodsy type person.

Didnt really like the character I posted yesterday so I decided to scrap the whole thing and start all over. This is my new original character I am making. I like it much more and I am taking my time with the sculpt. My favorite feature I sculpted was the nose, it has this sort of blocky stylized shape to it.
I am making this for sculpting practice.

It is a male human character wearing a costume of some sorts, I am not sure of what, Im just making it up as I sculpt. But so far I like the results.
    What says you?

This may be considered art. I'm not quite sure :p.
I was a bit bored earlier so I decided to record what I thought a Unity commercial might sound like. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the export to sound great, but in the DAW it sounds quite nice. The music is by Kevin MacLeod.

Only one question: is that your (natural) voice? If so, that's pretty awesome. I wish I had a voice like that.

To put your awesome voice in perspective:

...Yeah, my voice sucks. :( And I speak like a programmer.
