Link now has weapons worthy of a true hero, in The Master Sword and Hylian Shield. I found it rather hard to bring the sword from Zelda and make it in the style of Lego, I think I did it well, also I solved one of IMO the most annoying problems of lego, that it is to damn hard to have a sword held on the minifigs back, but with this design the shield fits through the hole and then could connect onto the back of a figure(or in this case links hat). It was inspired by a fellow who goes by the name of "Mingles" who made tonnes of zelda lego.

Oops, totally forgot about the rudder,I knew something was wrong with the plane.

Anyway,I think it fits into the theme without a rudder..."old,rusty airplane stuck in some scrapyard...lost it's rudder during a battle" :))

I textured links shield, and made his hair.. It needs a few touch up but looks good IMO :D

Next up is Links face. But now I must fall into a slumber... until morning.

Not as my usual posts here, but I've been trying to improve my Photoship skills...never really got to do any photo editing besides doing textures.

love the look here, and the animation on the parrot :)

Sorry for the noobish question, but

Is this all real-time Unity3d? Or is it pre-rendered? Image playback,... I am referring to the animated loop ^^^

    cheers

    Thanks :)

The only "fake" are the billboard/particle clouds. The animation was done in 3dsMax with a simple bone setup but its played realtime in unity

Hi all, I am starting to learn character modeling. One of my first chars is SAS soldier, for mobile shooter. He will be one of the enemies in my game :) It has now 682 polys and 640 verts.

So here is the result :

Any comments, tips, critisism would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

The overall proportion is looking good but his arms, including his hand are tiny. The texture is very dark. Hard to say, how you used your poly limit.
Maybe you can mirror some UV's

    Anyway, good start :)

Coins need to have a little shadow so they look tied to the world, right now they look like they are floating on their own layer. Other than that the art style is amazing and Im sure the style alone will get you some nice following. I wish you much success

    Thanks guys :)

I got your point. Visually it would have been nice, to have shadow. Technically the whole environment is flat. Even the terrain itself, which made it difficult to place real or fake shadows. I guess it could be done with masks, offsets etc but I ran into z-fighting issues when I was trying that. Well...I'm not a coder :)

@augasur: Came out pretty nice. Good work

Looks better than the old one.Could you post a wireframe of it?

The overall proportions look good to me.The sides of the legs seems a little bit too flat, same with the vest(or maybe it's just because of the angle). You could pull some of the vertices and get a more rounded look.

    Hi,

    here is the wireframe:

I could have used a bit less verts for the hands and legs, but later I think I would have problems with it, because I will have to rig and animate it :)

I wish it was complex :)
It's just a paper texture overlay within unity itself - beige in color for retrofication :)

Ahh so its a unity thing, not an art side thing. Thanks anyway, thought it was something done in illu/ps. Ill keep playing and ill hopefully create a more accurate interpretation of the effect tonight.

Well for the first mockups sure it was all ps. One paper texture overlaid over everything. The challenge was to bring it over to realtime unity and make it work :)
Since the objects moving underneath a single paper overlay looked weird and fuzzy. So each objects needed its own overlay.

    Small project underway, called E7.
First board is done. Designed about 5 so far. Essentially it is like snowboarding. Just in Space. Got about 5 designs for tracks down to. More art for it soon

    Edit:
Here is a quick update. Working on character design for board to make 3rd person. Currently there is a sphere riding a board. lol.

    Verts: 584
    Polys :623

Any tips, comments , critisism would be appreciated :)

    Thanks.

Not a bad model at all, only thing for me is the eyes. His face seems so close to Bender from Futurama. Unless that is the look you are going for.

I was not thinking about Bender at all :D There are glasses under helmet, but I do not know what color should it be, green, black, red or even blue :)

Help me to decide the color :)

    Nice!

I'd make him a bit buffer in the upper body, seeing as he is going to be hefting around a minigun, and since a large weapon would limit his ability to dodge, maybe a bit more armour across his body.
    Like these:
    (Far Cry 3)
    (Spec Ops: The Line)

I thought is was closer to a Cylon.
