    Yep, it's a classic shader. :B
I will play with the specular map and color so it's shiny! Maybe add reflection, I have a few simple cubemaps that work well for metal.

    EDIT:

    Done! :3

Yo, made new costumes/outfits for my character model. Will be included DLC pack #3 (I'm kidding, I don't do dlc)

    Check it oooouuuuut!

Boxers - To impress the ladies

Striped Pajamas - To uhh... to impress the ladies???

Totally badass leather jacket/tuxedo hybrid - To hide the fact that you wear childish blue pajamas and still wet the bed.

    okay bye!

Got back to working on my "image to level" converter thingymajig, but added the third dimension.
So in with a simple image (here 16x16) with some predefined info (red and green), add some alpha that is used for terrain height elsewhere. Then add some randomly placed objects.
    Screen_20170508b.png
    Screen_20170508a.png

But don't mess up the rotation in code (even if it looks a bit cool) :D

Looks neat. Totally off-topic but your screenshot made me initially think you were making a tower defense game, and seeing that it has multiple sort of 'tiers 'or layers of landscape, gave me this idea that maybe if you had a tower defense game where the terrain was different heights like that, certain enemies would be able to cross certain parts of the landscape differently depending on their 'tall-ness', while others would be more confined. Could add an interesting dimension to the gameplay.

Yes, it will be a tower defense. :) That's a nifty idea, I will keep it in mind for when I progress beyond generating levels :)

@snowconesolid brilliant the chromatic abberation really makes the drugged up effect.

Working on a more upbeat platformer for a change. Focusing soley on gameplay this time.

    Thanks! Blocky is looking good!

I made this pond/swampy forest scene for my frog character. Extremely proud of this.

Looking back at the work I did on Potato Thriller, looking at the quality and compared to what I could do now is insane to me. I improved is so much over the past year. My newest stuff is some of my best and I think this pond scene turned out beautiful! This sounds extremely egotistical, but I am really proud of myself lol.

I think with time, practice and training, anyone can become an artist or programmer. Everyone starts off somewhere and it really is tools like the Unity engine that give us that opportunity to do so. :)

my game will have bugs in it. lots of bugs.

@snowconesolid it's difficult to compare because Potato Thriller was a true masterpiece, but you're definitely improving.

Here I'm working purely on mechanics, part of going back to does your game have the 'minimum viable product' to ship.

I've already made changes to this, but... can't access onedrive at work or use discord :(
But the only difference is shading on the bottom portion of the legs when moving.

Has kind of a wide stride, don't you think?

Typically your legs cross in front of you when walk as your body turns.

Updates on texturing progress, going well. The update will include a couple of tiles, if it was lacking more of thembefore. I used them to texture the top side of the bridge updates.

I am having a problem with the normals of my staircase meshes in Unity. It works in other 3D applications but in Unity it's just messed up. I figured out why that happens and did happen before I submitted v1 of the pack but this time I can't seem to be able to fix it. I'll just let this one for last.

I'm almost done with the texturing of the updates and bridge, will finish soon.

awww shucks! Thank you thank you haha.
Your gameplay mechanics are looking really solid! I like that approach of focusing on a fun working game first instead of art and graphics. Those could come later on. But even if you decide to ship the game as is, it's simple design seems to be working. Looking really good!

Also, here is an up close screenshot of my turtles face. This is profile pic/icon material.

First time using a graphics tablet and here is what I came up with:
    Knight_Brendan.png
I'm probably gonna use it for an avatar for a little bit.

    Thoughts?

    What program are you using?

I would HIGHLY recommend trying Krita out (it's free).

That, or you could try doing the ink lines on paper. Snap a picture of it. Up the contrast in Photoshop GIMP to where it's just black and white. Delete the white. Clean it up. Then add the colors to in on another layer with your tablet.

But the trick to a graphics tablet is to learn to not watch your pen and to always draw with your arm and not your wrist.

In fact, never draw with your wrist.

Your arm has a lot more control and you're able to get much better with it over time than you ever can with your wrist.

I'm actually using Krita lol! But thanks for the suggestion anyways, it's a great piece of software!

I will definitely try to not use my wrist as much, perhaps that's why most of the lines took more than 1 try to get right.

    Thanks for the tips!

Maybe try whatever the equivalent of 'lazy mouse' is to help smooth it out?

Definitely the outer silhouette should be made of single strokes or multiple strokes where each one clearly defines something.

I would also highly recommend some deliberate practice.

Sycra has some FANTASTIC videos on how to improve your drawing skills. All of his videos are well made and very informative.

That's really awesome Can't believe it's mostly post processing, looks beautiful!
I agree, Sycra has some good drawing tutorials. I was following him when I still had time to draw!
    ---
Some last screenshots before submission. Everything is done and textures, besides the normal map problems I am having lately, If I can't fix it might just have to use hard edges and hope for the best, It's setting me back a little.
I am officially closing the updates and calling it a day with this pack!

    Two quick notes.

I noticed that there's a straight line running right through the texture and it will stick out like a sore thumb when it's tiled.

And I think you need to dial the gloss WAY back on the stones. It looks unnatural.

Yeah, There's nothing I can do about that anymore, It would mean remaking the tile. I used the wrong design panther by mistake. And yes, I do turn down the specular, I usually keep it at 0.47 gloss but I just maxed it out in that image to see how it looks.
