Welcome to the Work In Progress page for Prospect, a Unity game I'm developing for Windows, Mac and Linux; development is in full swing and updates can be seen on IndieDB, with daily news stories and media.

    What is Prospect?

Prospect is a game that I designed a few years ago, and now have the chance to bring it to life. So, what is Prospect? It is a game of exploration, discovery and most importantly survival. You play a research engineer called Jesse Enner, whom unexpectedly becomes stranded on an unknown planet.

    Preface

You are a Research Engineer aboard a large vessel named 'Aurora', with a crew of 130. Aurora has been tasked with finding new worlds to colonize and develop, and one day she finds one. This unknown planet showed some interesting scans, ship wrecks; many of them, too many to ignore. Whilst in orbit, an unusual burst of energy comes from the planet and envelops the Aurora. Aurora loses power, lights go off and the humming sound of the systems fade, Now without power and in a destabilizing orbit, the Aurora is lost and you find yourself boarding the nearest escape pod. You launch, you brace, and impact into the planet.

    Gameplay

Your task is to explore the surface of the planet and find out what happened. Ships have black boxes and logs for this very reason. This unknown planets surface is a harsh environment; the atmosphere is toxic, the winds strong and the visibility is poor.

Explore the environment, scavenge parts from other ships and pods. You need to find a way off of this rock. You'll need to find a supply of Food, Water and Oxygen; yours won't last forever. As a research engineer, you know how to build and reverse engineer systems. Use this to your advantage. You're going to need this knowledge.

Research logs from each wreck provide you with an insight into the strange energy burst. What is it and how does it form? Timing is everything, and those logs might just save your life.

Create a communications array, send a distress call and hope someone hears it. Co-ordinate the rescue, set up beacons and make sure the energy burst doesn't hit the shuttle too, You only get one chance.

I've been udk_lethal_d0se on various forums for nearly 7 years. I started out development with UDK, hence the name. This game is in fact, using the Unity engine.
