[WIP] KaiScripts - Online

    KaiScripts



    An online mobile location based game. Using your current location you can find items and monsters known as KaiScripts in a digital parallel world. Not only can your location influence what you find, but weather, and time of day will directly affect you in the game.

    Features include:

    • Online real time battles, train your KaiScripts against other players online!
    • Find KaiScripts based on your location. You will need to battle them to release them from the virus that holds them and have them join your team.
    • Choose between two Hacker factions for control of the online digital underworld.
    • Mine for coins by scanning barcodes in the real world.
    • Share items with other players by encrypting them in qr codes.
    • Customize your KaiScript's appearance by purchasing shaders in the game store.
    • Fuse your KaiScripts together to create new and more powerful KaiScripts.
    • Customize your KaiScript's attacks by spending skill points in a Skill Tree.
    History:

    I've been working on this game for the better of the last 3 years. It took a lot of learning to get here. This project has been very ambitious for one coder but I've learned a lot along the way and close to finishing the game I wanted to make. This game started with one simple idea, that you could go anywhere and find something hidden in the world around you with your mobile phone. The server was built using Node JS and the front end of course is all Unity3D. The artwork is the work of a very talented artist and can't claim that for myself!

    One of your first thoughts might be the recently announced Pokemon Go, though it appears to be an awful coincidence. I was initially disappointed when I saw the game announced a month ago, as suddenly two large companies had beat me to something I've been working on for a while (and I probably will not be able to beat them to a release), but I'm confident my game still has something different to offer.
    Today:

    I'm getting close to finishing all the major features. From there I will be looking to find a little more talent for art and sound and finishing up developing content. There will of course have to be a Beta test too. I have a website in development now and hope to share more in the future.

    Below I've attached some screen shots in a link below, keep in mind its all a work in progress and there is more artwork needed. Also most of the data coming from the server is all test data, so there is a lot of duplication in the screen shots. I'm open to constructive criticism and feedback!

    I've added a couple more screen shots in the link above, and here is some more info on the Battle system in my game:

    Real time battles:


    Each player has a 'Team' that can include up to 5 KaiScripts. You can fight with your team other Players online, or AI enemies. When you battle another player or KaiScript it will all happen real time and online.

    Battle features:
    • The player with the lower 'latency' (a stat on your KaiScript) will get a 30 second preemptive strike at the start of battle.
    • Each player starts with 100 "Bandwidth", and each attack has a "Bandwidth cost"
    • When a player attacks the cost is subtracted from their Bandwidth
    • Bandwidth is recovered slowly through out battle
    • Each attack has a 'casting' period, the attack is susceptible to stun during this.
    • If a player attacks without enough Bandwidth their KaiScript will become "Frozen" and they will be unable to attack for a while, strategically decide if the attack is worth it!
    • A player can "Hot swap" their KaiScript by swiping left or right at any time. You will switch to the adjacent member in your team. Because you can only switch to adjacent members, ordering of your team will be important!
    • Switching a team member has a Bandwidth penalty and leaves you open to attack.
    • A player can use up to 4 items he/she 'caches' outside of battle.
    • Your location's weather will also have an affect on the battle!
    • Win the battle by destroying the other player's team or opposing KaiScript! Earn exp and points for your Hacker Faction!
