    INTRODUCTION

Hey everyone! I'm an 18 years old newbie indie game developer with at least 6 months worth of Unity3D + C# Language experience and today I decided to dedicate myself on a project that I will really enjoy and hopefully everyone will too!

    INSPIRATION

This project that I'm about to work on is inspired by a few twin stick 2d space shooters that I've played/seen which is; Geometry Wars 2, Waves, Echoes+, etc...

    WHAT IS THIS THREAD FOR?

I will be posting updates about almost everything on my project for the purpose of having a "road map" for myself and for the people that are interested on my project!

    GOAL

    - My goal for this project is for it to be the most enjoyable game for me and to everyone that enjoys this genre!
    - Unique gameplay!
    - Beautiful graphics!
    - Great performance!
    - Very clean UI!
    - To be published on Android, iOS, and then PC; gradually!
    - Next gen feel!
    - And so much more!

    UPDATE 1! (12/8/2015)
    GENERAL CONCEPT

    - Castle Defense type of game.
    - Infinite waves with dynamically procedural difficulty changes.
    - Unique player ship upgrades aiming for different types of builds to suit different play styles.
    - Tower upgrades and customization.
    - Chaotic, yet clean combat.

The arena might look like this:

Of course, it will be bigger in game XD.

    GENERAL GAME CONCEPT

    - Each waves lasts 2 - 3 mins.
    - Every 10 waves, a special enemy will spawn.
    - Player has health and if dead, you'll have to wait a few seconds to re-spawn again.
    - After a wave, you gain a currency to upgrade your player ship, tower, gate health, to repair your gate, etc...

I'm also planning on the player ship upgrading part that you'll be able to choose which bullet pattern you would want to use to suit your play style.

Oh, and I do not plan to have a boring Main Menu UI. Instead, you do everything in game already!

That is all for now and it's time for me to start working so I can show more stuffs to you guys! If you're interested with this thread, just simply watch it, stalk it, or whatever floats your boat and I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

    Thank you!

    UPDATE 2! (12/9/2015)
    BASIC GAME GRAPHICS STYLE

    Hello everyone!

I quickly worked on the scenery of the game and luckily, I've found an awesome seamless space background that is free for commercial use!

So what I did is, I made a big quad > added the seamless texture > tiled it > added a bloom effect on my camera > added a color correction effect > made a seamless grid on top of it > viola!

Fun part about this is that my camera is on perspective mode so it has depth. The space background being the furthest and the grid being the "floor" of the game.

    Here's a gif of the process! http://i.imgur.com/oGskzlQ.gif

Lastly, I was quickly thinking of a style that the player ship, enemy ship, bullets, etc... will have and I came up with this! I'm pretty happy about it for now but change is always welcome if it's really not that pleasing. But for now, I really like it!

    Picture:

That's all I can share for now!

Next, I'm going to be working on bullet patterns for the player ship that players can change to suit their playstyle.

Thanks for reading; if you did!

    UPDATE 3! (12/11/2015)

    JOYSTICK

    Hello everyone!

After I spent the whole day fixing my laptop yesterday, I finally got Unity to work on it again and continued working on my project.

I was thinking of making my own Joystick but I realized that it would take a long time for me to do so. Glady, I was able to find this AMAZING Joystick Asset by CroweGaming. Check it out: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/27695. I'm so surprised by its awesome quality for its frickin cheap price! Kudos to the maker by a million times!

Anyway, it took me only a few minutes to learn how to use the asset and integrated it on my game.

That's all I have for now, I'll be working on the arena next and I can't wait to share it to you guys!

Thanks for reading; if you did!
