    Hi everyone,

The studio I work at is currently developing a FPS called Mech Mice Academy. It's playing style is reminiscent of older FPS games like Quake, Unreal Tournament and Goldeneye, with a little bit of Team Fortress 2 mixed in! We'd love for you to try it out and give us your feedback.

Here is a link to check it out:

    Thanks!

Thank you very much! I will be sure to keep posting updates. We're going to be hopefully launching a map update, some customization options, as well as a team based play mode this week. Fingers crossed!

Nice cartoon style! Maybe add some movement mechanics to increase the pace of the gameplay? For example, Unreal Tournament has dodging and Quake has a special jump to make you move fast.

Side note: Playing as the engineer feels like you're about to humiliate someone.

Thanks for your feedback, KubeX! We're hopefully going to be adding some more features/mechanics as we go along.

Your comment about the Engineer made me laugh! It's always funny when you pit that class against the Heavy and completely out-maneuver your opponent :)

@clubmagicdrive, awesome FPS Demo of Mech Mice! I'm sure it's going to be a hit, but i'm slightly abit confused, why does some of your videos, and media show Mech Mice as some kind of Turn Based Strategy Game, but yet your Demo on website is FPS?

Did you guys just decide to switch the game over to FPS from TBS? if so... why is that... or is Mech Mice going to have to different style games or something?

@ Kuroato - that's a great question. Mech Mice was originally planned to be built out as a turn based strategy game. After completing the alpha/beta stages, we released the single player experience back in October, and have put out a 2nd chapter and 3rd chapter demo experience since.

In December, one of our developers decided to take the assets and try making an FPS; just for fun. We all played it at the office and were like "hey, this is really good", so we decided to see where we could take it! Since then, we've released 2 additional character classes, and are launching a revised map, team game modes, and some character customization modes very soon.

Since MechMice is meant to be appropriate for younger ages, we wanted to carry that over into an FPS and still make sure it's FUN for all ages; regardless of whether or not it contains graphic content usually associated with FPS games. Theres a lot of great fundamental skills that younger players can take from FPS games, like team work, strategy, hand-eye coordination, etc.

While Mech Mice was being developed, many of the players asked for multiplayer options, and the ability to interact with their players. We're hoping that MMAcademy will "scratch that itch" (even if it's not how it was intended), and gain some new players in the process.

    Thanks for your comments!

I think if you look closely, the tile set on the ground has hexagons. Which probably represented the movement spaces that you would find in most TBS games. The game might have started off as just a TBS game. Then the game got modified into an FPS genre.

You can actually still play the TBS version in the website.

You got it! Mech Mice Academy was made using the assets built for the TBS single player game. That's why you'll see the hexagon shape around the map.

Has a nice cube 2 look to it and I like the fact that it's age appropriate for all ages unlike most games in that genre.

The CTF mode was interesting. Some additional power-ups or items might help add more strategic and teamwork gameplay to the game. Right now the CTF mode is fairly simple to understand. Engineer is the offense type for capturing flags, heavy makes a solid defense to the flag, the commando is a mixture between defense and offense; which can take down heavies that are defending or stop engineers from getting too close to the flag.

I appreciate the detailed feedback. We are experimenting with different temporary power-ups, and the "boots of speed" were the first attempt. We're definitely going to look at seeing what else we can add in the future.

I really like the capture the flag, it is so much better than the usual DM or TDM. It would be cool if there was some sort of "King of the Hill" mode as well. The game was pretty fun, for some reason the sound was not working for me, I don't know if that's just me or the game or what. Anyway, really good. One thing I noticed is that the face paint looks pretty fake. I really love the destructables too! I don't know if they serve any purpose, to harm nearby enemies or whatever, but it was really neat.
