Here's a video of some raycast hit detection testing (hence the bad driving!).

Temporary UI elements, fonts and sound effects as placeholders for now.

Next task is to program the AI.. Will keep this thread updated.

I have fond childhood memories of RC-ProAm - I think on the NES.
This reminds me of that, although it is only vaguely similar.
    It's cool!

Reminds me of Beach Buggy Racing. My kids love that game.

@theANMATOR2b - Loved that game as well. Thousands of hours spent on my NES playing Super Sprint and Super Off Road too.

Got off track with nostalgia. As for critique of what is seen in the video so far. You could modify the camera follow code to allow for some damping. It feels very stiff and not smooth, which makes it appear novice. I feel like that would improve the feel of it overall, and this is only my opinion. Next observation: Players love alternate paths and shortcuts in these types of games, little side roads, elevated paths via bridges, etc. Usually the player will have to smash through a destructible barrier or something to access the alternate path.

Thanks for the feedback. I've tried testing with more camera damping, but I want the player vehicle to stay in the centre of the screen (most the time).. It's a compromise I guess, but maybe needs some tweaking.

Yes, I intend to have multiple paths and heights on each level. After the AI has been coded, I'll mock up some levels with different paths and extend the AI code so they make decisions on each path etc.

Cool, yeah it's always a trade off in game development!
