    Hello Everyone,

OK... well... here goes... this is our very first Unity game.... and its called CubeWord. TaDahhhh!!

The webplayer demo version is here: http://www.cubeword.com.

It's a 3d crossword puzzle game based on the American style crossword puzzle. We came up with the idea for CubeWord some time ago and we've got a demo going now, and now that we've got this far, we want to test the water and get some feedback. It's still very much a work in progress.

It works and is playable (mostly) ;-) it takes about 5 seconds to load. There are three levels in the demo -10x10 grid, 11x11 grid, 12x12 grid - tested up to 100x100 grid. There is a practical limit of course because of screen space. (The clues and answers are a test set for demo purposes). The plan is to have categories and difficulty levels in later builds and also a multiplayer version so you can play with friends and the Leaderboard feature is an incentive for Players to keep playing.

And we're posting here hoping that people like it and to test the water to see if there is a market for this kind of puzzle game and if we should take it further, which platform its most suited to (currently its PC based) - my personal favourite is iOS.

    Known Bugs:
The scoring is an arbitrary 10 points per square at the moment (not counting the first square)
Sometimes the Across and Down Clue Panels aren't visible until you click on the panel slider

    How To Play
CubeWord is based on the American style crossword puzzle featuring a solid grid design with relatively very few black squares; with every single letter in every single word crossing over another word.

Here are a few pointers to help you get around.

    • The principle of CubeWord is similar to a crossword puzzle except that it has six faces, one on each side of a cube.
    • The game begins on Face 1 of a 10x10 squared grid - level 10.
    • When all six faces of the cube are complete the player moves on to the next level.
    • Each face of the cube is increased by one square when the previous faces are complete - taking it to a new level. The complexity or difficulty of the crossword increases with each new level.
    • To enter a word simply click on a square in which you want to begin typing or begin typing in the square offered. The colour of the selected square will appear in yellow. The corresponding clue will be highlighted in a box and also in the Clue Panels to the right and left of the screen.
    • Click a square to toggle between across and down or click a clue in the Clue Panel.
    • Tab to jump to the next clue.
    • Press Keyboard Keys 1,2,3,4,5,or 6 to select a face, or click the onscreen buttons.
    • Left Click, hold and drag anywhere on the cube to rotate it.
    • Click [F] to go fullscreen, esc to exit fullscreen.
    • Esc - Main Menu.

I've built in some shortcut/cheat keys for testing purposes:
PgDn keyboard key will fill in the answer of the selected square
PgUp keyboard key fills in all the answers on the current face

So what do you guys think? Do you like the gameplay? Is it too hard/too easy? It would be great to hear some tips, comments and/or criticisms.

    Thanks for reading.

    Sylvia
