42 players start. Only one will survive.

Hey everyone, over at Gadget Games we've been pretty busy recently, working on our new multiplayer competitive survival shooter, Down To One.

    About the game:
Down to One is a competitive survival shooter in a large, interactive, open-world environment. Start out with nothing, and use anything you can find in the environment to survive, and eliminate other competitors over the course of a brutal round.

As well as the public info on our Greenlight page, I thought I'd share some of the more techy stuff we're doing here:
    • Full Body Character & Shadows - Thanks to the magic of Sunshine, we've got full first-person shadows, and no clipping into walls. Combined with our custom full body character system, we're going for a very immersive experience
    • Procedural IK - Every item you pick up, door you open, and many more interactions are done through procedural IK, using the excellent Final IK framework as a base.
    • Custom Input - Accurate input is very important for competitive shooters. We sample mouse input @ 1000hz, and have manually calibrated our mouse sensitivity values to be the same as CSGO.
    • Smart Networking - Using Bolt Networking, we're able to do some pretty cool stuff. As the player count decreases throughout a round, network updates become more frequent, increasing the accuracy of what players are seeing, when it counts.
Also, a big shoutout to the talented publishers on the Unity Asset Store that have 'filled the gaps' in our team. It'd be a lot harder (and way more expensive) to develop Down To One without them.

Quick update: We've now got SSAA implemented! Check out that nice smooth grass and specular highlights:

So.... this is going to be brutally honest and honest opinions is what everyone is going to get. If I lied, there would be no improvement so dont take any offense.

Animations are total crap. The ADS is crap. The shooting is crap. Graphics are amazing and the content seems very nice. I really like the concept. But you really should not advertise animation as a big point for two reasons:
    1. every game has animation
    2. your animation isnt that great.

Anyways, work on those things and the game would look much better. Take hints from COD because they do fps animation, ads, and shooting correctly.

100% Agree with you, and since taking that footage, we've completely re-done the recoil system to be a lot more visual, and are in the process of replacing almost all the animations, (movement/ADS/melee). Also, most of the cool IK stuff like procedural hit reactions isn't shown in the trailer (the only stuff that is there is the door opening/item picking up) - so you're right that we shouldn't have promoted that without showing all of it.

Yes but honestly, your game looks nice. It's just the animation that really takes away from the immersion. If you can nail that part down, then it will compliment the gameplay so well that it might be one of the greatest points of the game. Really get into that animation!!!
