    About the 3D Scifi Kit Vol 4:

    I'm trying for this kit, to add more things than the vol 3:

    - More lightning
    - More interactivity with the elements
    - Less textures (actually only 4 diffuse)
    - More coloring possibility! You can re-color everything...
    - A bit more polygons, but i stay low poly
    - Better scales, more realistic...

    If those images aren't from HDRP, am I going to want to see what they look like in HDRP? The quality on those last screens and that video are top quality! Another hit from the Creepy-Cat.

    You can easily convert all the materials to HDRP or URP with Unity.

    Hi

    Like i promised, here is a new video of the first demo map. As you can see at the end, you can
    customize the objects colors for your need with ease :) I think to have enought objects/props for the first
    release (i try to make a bit of all), i keep a bit of time to make some missing objects, and i'll release it :)

    About the price? I think to start the package around 30/40$ => And i'll increase the price with the updates (like i done with the scifi kit 3) to allow a maximum users to get it with a low price :)

    So for the next release, i wanted to create a spaceship inspired by the Oblivion bubbleship! it was a long time i wanted to make it:)

    I'm actually working on the cockpit (the most hard part...)

    Sweet! That looks amazing!

    BTW, just imported the new asset and saw this. I'm not sure if it means anything, but I imported into the same project as the Vol 3 kit; could there be a clash somewhere?

    ImportFBX Errors:
    The mesh Decal_A has invalid normals. Try cleaning and triangulating Decal_A in your 3D modeller before importing it in unity.
    This is a failure in the fbx exporter of the tool which exported the fbx file.

    Can you import the Vol 4 in a clean fresh project and tell me if you get the same? This message is a warning or it block the runtime? And can you tell me what object is indicated?

    I did just now import in a clean new 2020.3 project and got the same error when I imported the asset. For some reason, clicking the error does not highlight the problem asset. I don't think it's blocking the runtime, as I can run the demo scene without errors, but I worry that one of the prefabs may not look correct.

    I've pasted the complete list of warnings and errors here.

    A polygon of Mesh 'Detail_A' in Assets/_Creepy_Cat/_3D Scifi Kit Vol 4/Meshes/Bed_Double_01.FBX is self-intersecting and has been discarded.

    Sometime Unity display some strange message during package importation, but in most of case don't care about it... Check the concerned object and tell me if it's displayed correctly! Unity talks too much sometimes :)

    Note: Decal concerning the screw or grid displayed. But i'll check the object :) Just in case!

    I think that the convertion to Unreal will be more easy with the volume 4, less textures...

    Whoa. I could see that become a dragonfly-like flier, which would be pretty amazing. Whatever it does end up looking like will be excellent, I know. Nice work!

    Hey!

    Worklog update 1.1 (release soon) :

    - New cool spaceship included, inspired by Oblivion movie Bubble Ship.
    - New metalmaps added (*.Metal_B), to get a more metalic rendering on the materials slots "*_ID_Grey_A"
    - Take a look to "Textures/_For GFX Artists/Cavity" it's a good start to make your own metalic maps.
    - Do not hesitate to play with Photoshop and the metal map bitmaps :) To get different kit render!

    I reworked on a new metal map for the materials, i assigned those new map to the materials named "*Grey_A"
    (if you don't like it, remap the old metal map), but many people criticized the kit 3 for having a "too plastic" look...

    Yes, metallic maps are the secret of PBR... It's quite complicated to use them well! And I must admit learning things about them, even after using them for 5 years... I will include more later, they will allow different renderings for the kit.

    Yes they will be nice (I haven't put all the buttons yet), but it will allow to extend the building capacities of the kit. For example for those who want to do tests in VR :) Buttons are clickable with correct pivot orientation/placement.

    Because if this kit has more polygons than the 3, I still stay Low Poly modeling (I don't understand the point of placing thousands of polygons on everything.. I always try to standardize my polygonal load by distributing it as well as possible)

    What use are the 6000 polygons on my door handle to me, if my app is running at 10 FPS? Watch Star Citizen! Certainly it's beautiful, but on my Core I7 with an RTX 3060, the application does not run in 1080 in a suitable way!

    For version 1.2 I'm not going to do crazy work like for the bubbleship, I'm going to do little props... here I'm doing buttons and I'm thinking of doing furniture props first. Because I've seen a lot of projects made with my kits, and it's often exploration games, with the construction of Martian modules

    As you can see, with a little work and the electric button kit it is possible to achieve a lot of things! :)

    Don't hesitate to take a look inside the prefabs diretory called "Things" :) With a bit of imagination you can create cool stuff with those kit pieces!

    Hey! :)

    I started to include some dynamic panels! It allow you to define some text in a screen with some dynamic elements. For the moment it's a test, but it show you the kit possibility's. The video you see is a a script! You define:

    Something like this :
    "A Start String" + (Random value between Min & Max) + "A End String"

    VERY nice! I'm strongly considering a VR game with this kit, and having dynamic displays will definitely enhance realism.

    If you make VR test, do not hesitate to post some screen with lightmapping and perf! :) Im considering doing this also, but i don't find mt quest anymore... I'll try to make also some Webgl test.

    A new small console! :) For walls. The advantage of this technique is that if you have a well-made set of buttons, you don't have to redo buttons for each console in 3D... the other advantage is that you can build your own console!

    Release soon! :) I take a couple of day to finish one or two things on this update.

    Do not hesitate to reply to the thread poll (on top)!
    It can really help me to understand the silent users (and the others).


    Because sometime a don't know what direction to take when i create my kits... This is the case with volume 3! I went in all directions, to meet all the needs and in the end I only managed to generate a huge mess (i admit...)

    I don't want to make the same mistakes with this one. I know the perfect kit doesn't exist, but I try to make the kit that works best for you! You have three possible answers...

    Creepy Cat hope that you will like this update? :)

    This buttons & panels update adds a lot to the kit, we can now imagine an immersive scenario manipulating them in VR !:D Looks so cool, what a nice job !

    Please note this package has not been studied for mobile! :) But I think we can run it, but with light scenes... I'll try when I find my quest!
