I had so much headaches with windows 8 API that I would surely be interested in some sort of wrapper for its methods...

Hopefully we can end up seeing this in the asset store as I didn't find anything of the likes

    Any news on this?

I have so much problems in fixing some missing routines for Windows Store Builds!

I need something similar to File.Exists and FileStream.

As a matter of fact I submitted the asset to the store two days ago. :) It's awaiting review (I'm told it should take 3 business days on average, but it can take longer). Even though almost no one answered our post, I noticed that my old question on Unity Answers gathers quite a few views even today, so I decided to develop it anyway.

If the asset is eventually accepted, it's called UnifiedIO. It does contain File.Exists, GetReadStream, GetWriteStream and GetAppendStream (among others), which will work on every main platform (Windows Store included) and should help you.

I'll post here if and when it goes live. Thanks for your interest! :)

UnifiedIO is now available here, if you want to check it out. :)

This thread will eventually become obsolete, as it was meant for receiving feedback. I'll think about creating a dedicated forum page for it.
