    I'm using Unity 5 Personal Edition. I have run into the licensing crash problem, in where when I open Unity, it says, 'Licensing issue detected! there was a problem with the license because the Operating System identification seems to have changed.' How do I go about fixing this? I have looked around Unity help forums and surfed the web for a while but I cannot find an answer to this problem. Also, the bug fixes page on the Unity website that says to delete the .ulf file in C:\ProgramFiles\Unity did not work as there was no .ulf file in there. Please help!

    Have you tried uninstalling and downloading the editor again?

    Sorry, but this page does not help me reactivate my license from an expired credit card. After putting in the new exp date, the Unity web site will not let me activate it, even though I got an email stating my card had been successfully billed. Now that I have windows 10 and cannot reset my license because it was on a windows 8 system, I am once again dead in the water with unity. 'No link to reset it on the website here'

    Just as a friendly notice: The new Windows 10 build (10586) that came out today to the general public will cause licensing issues again as Unity sees it as an OS change. Be sure to follow the steps in Aurore's first post!

    1 thing that may help is deleting the license file, as instructed here:
    http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/516259/license-information-is-invalid-.html

    The folder is hidden, so type C:\ProgramData\ manually in explorer.
    C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_v5.x.ulf

    I used to be able to just bypass the login screen cause it was always problematic, but couldn't do that anymore. I was just getting into a loop of errors when trying to reactivate the account or something, by it detecting changed OS... Too late to screenshot it now and already downloading latest Unity just in case. This is all for Personal edition btw. Would think you don't need an account for that.

    edit: Yep, works after those steps.

    One question:
    Is it supported to build WP8.1 applications from a Windows 10 machine?
    Exact:
    • Windows 10, Version 10.0.10586
    • Visual Studio 2015 14.0.24720.00 Update 1
    • Unity 5.3.2f1

    I am asking, because the documentation says

    Requirements when targeting Windows SDK 8.1/Windows Phone SDK 8.1/Universal SDK 8.1:

    • Windows 8.1
    I would expect "Windows 8.1. and higher".

    Greetings
    Pat

    Yes, there's an error in manual, you can use Windows 10 to build to WP8.1

    Hi I have a bug to report for activating Unity 5.3 under the latest Win 10 Update.

    What happens:
    -> Checking License
    ->License management -> I Choose: Unity Personal Edition
    -> Press Next
    -> License agreement -> I Choose the second option (I also tried the third option)
    -> Press Next
    -> Updating License
    -> Activation

    -> Back again in the License management...
    -> but this time I can't press next.

    No error or something else...

    I tried to restart and reinstall Unity but no effect!

    Kind regards,
    Spy

    I don't know if it's related, but currently, I can't log-in in a fresh installation of Unity 5.4 on a win10 PC. My login and password are constantly rejected… (Using Unity pro subscription…).

    Ok, solved my problem!

    The problem was probably the license server of Unity.
    Now the activation works!

    Maybe the same for you F-R!?

    I reinstalled Unity and now it seems to work… The activation system seems quite buggy, I often get problems with it.

    all my unity 5 version stopped working after an update from windows 10 really recently... looks like it's the ad'aware from lavasoft: web companion that was causing the issue. uninstalled that crap and everything was back to normal...
