That would require me to target mobile platforms. :p

From what I heard their API is already one of the better\easier ones to use in Unity, so if I would aim for monetizing via ads...

Yes, if the game's monetization strategy revolves around ads.

I'm not familiar with how Ironsource ads work, but a quick check shows that it has been possible to include them in your projects for quite a while, long before the merger...so basically those who were using it already had it and those who need to use it could simply just download the plugin or whatever they have.

Sadly, yes. Unity are unable to provide these services.
    • Ad mediation
      • Why implement just Unity ads when you can implement ALL networks and auto-switch to the one that will pay you the most?
    • Playable ads
      • They own Luna which can convert a Unity project to a javascript engine that can be smaller than 5mb. Unity wanted you to use Unity Tiny and learn Javascript, instead of converting.

    FWIW,
We actually have our own Mediation product (though it's still in beta).

Tiny switched from Javascript to C# a long time ago. (Though development of Tiny is paused for now).

    No,
I will either go back to software or work for a company rather than creating mini crappy games powered by impulsive ads that provides minimal starve revenue. Oh h*ll no.

AFAIK mediation and playable ads are not exclusive to Ironsource (i'm no expert though).

Or just create a medium sized, non-crappy game, that has a good monetization to actual content ratio and get not only a fanbase that is going to enjoy your games, but also lots of revenue. Surprise-surprise, you don't have to use Ironsource for that :D.

That's actually my story, two successful premium games and lots of failed attempts with ads monetization.

Completely missed the point that i've been making (taking a different route rather than "going back to software" or looking for employment at a studio).
