    Hello there!

Will the built-in Animator IK system be deprecated in the future for Animation Rigging? Is there a reason why I should choose one over the other for a new project?

I haven't been able to find information that clearly defines if the systems serve different purposes, or if Animation Rigging is just a newer version of the previous IK system.

    Hi,

No the IK system for humanoid is not deprecated. It is a solution that is tailored made to work with humanoid characters and even though it's not extensible like Animation Rigging is, you should definitely consider using it if you need these specific constraints (namely IK, foot planting, and aim).

That said, I would advise against using it if you need to also use Animation Rigging for additional constraints. Humanoid constraints evaluate after Animation Rigging and can't interact with other Animation Rigging constraints.
