Is wiki.unity3d.com site gone? I have not visited it for a while, and now I can't access it. "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN".

Unify was taken down sometime near the end of last year. It has thankfully been achieved. Checkout this link, which is the achieved site.

The wiki used to be the best place to find little micro-scripts and script examples for Unity. I seem to recall that the golden age of the Unity Wiki was sometime around when Unity 4 was current, so I think most of the scripts on there were very old at this point. In the mean time a lot of script examples have been added to the documentation, so I don't think there's such a need for the wiki now as there was before.

I used a json loader from the wiki and that was the worst possible json loader in existence with atrocious performance.

I've never touched the wiki sincee.

I don't think there's any value to the wiki code. It seems like it would have value, but IMHO github is the right place for these things.

I once came upon some code for visualizing Metaballs there, and it was amazing. Ran 3-4 times faster than my solution, and the code itself was beatifull. So, there was not only bad code. It was just bad and awesome mixed together.

But has anyone uploaded code from there into GitHub? I don't think that the code was archived.

I don't think there's much good code in there. Most of it is written for a version of Unity that's 10 years old (Unity 4). Any value you could get from it is limited.

So I would not recommend it be moved to github either, just replaced with better things on github, and that's already been done for just about anything I've seen so far. Do you have anything in mind?

and cannot upload direct copy to github, i asked Unity and they wont allow it.

i remember that 3d math script there was pretty good, had all the line/point/plane intersection code etc..
but of course can find similar ones elsewhere.

The wiki content was (possibly erroneously) licensed as something like CC-BY-SA. That made it not very useful.
