The official XR "Interaction in VR" tutorial ( https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/virtual-reality/interaction-vr ) is deprecated & links to other generic documentation, but appears to have no current direct replacement.

Why? What's actually WRONG with it? Did recent UI changes to Unity's editor just cause the step-by-step directions to no longer be accurate, or is something about the WAY it implements it now considered to be broken, fundamentally bad, or a horrific anti-pattern that nothing should even contemplate using going forward? Or did Unity just add new convenience functions for XR at some point in the recent past that achieves the same thing in a platform-agnostic manner with less work that Unity's developers haven't gotten around to documenting yet?
