Why still no HDRP water yet? Looking for HDRP ocean waves.

I'm looking, looking, looking for a HDRP water shader - but I can't find anything. I know it is preview and that it changes and that things will be broken. And that if anyone takes the time to make a shader it will be probably broken the day after tomorrow.

Does anyone know of anything that could be used for a big ocean? I'd be happy using anything that looked remotely realistic in HDRP.

Should I learn shader graph and try to make my own? Where would I start on something like that?

Thanks in advance for even the smallest reply.

    Cheers

I am from your future. Allow me to help you out.

Yes you will need to learn how to use Shader Graph. Then you'll need to check out this video for the LWRP. It also works in HDRP

It gives you a very nice ocean shader for hdrp to get you started.

    You're welcome.

Water is a desired feature in HDRP but currently it's not a high priority feature in our list.

Well it is important. My Unity project is for educational purposes. Can't move forward to bring the best quality and realism without HDRP and oceans.

It's achievable with shadergraph plus planar reflection probe. If you google around there's a few examples to get you started.

Infinite oceans, with moving mesh is needed..
