    hey guys and gals,

I have been using unity for some time now and i love the engine and platform. I was just curious as there are many many options out there for various kinds of game development what is it that keeps you working with unity? I personally feel like it is a great engine and I love how often they are updating it and continually improving the software for us developers. I also love how I can build for many various platforms with it.

What are your favorite aspects of it?
Why did you start using it in the first place?
why are you continuing to use it?

Thanks! just thought it could lead to some fun discussion

    1. It's very easy to use.
    2. It's very easy to add your own behaviors to objects.
    3. It's multi-platform.
    4. It supports standard formats like FBX (etc) and doesn't require it's own build tools.
    5. It works.

Other engines may be easier to use now, but in "the old days", other engines were quite complicated, and you were expected to jump through hoops for the privilege of using buggy software.

It's super productive; I can get my game going without having to spend a lot of time on finicky details at each step.

Unity, as a company is very stable.
    Unity support is excellent.
    Multiple platform support.
Ability to easily create powerful editor tools.
Good for complex games, and rapid prototyping.
    Fun to use.

cool, thanks for those of you who responded. I agree and have had experiences with all those positives aside from trying to use older more complicated engines. I just used the old rpg maker software before starting to learn to code and jumping to unity. Could anyone here tell me why you prefer unity vs the unreal engine specificly? I have seen recently that alot of bigger companys look for unreal engine experience when looking to hire a programmer or developer. I am just wondering why they don't appear to be looking for unity experience as well? Is this just beacuse that companys engine of choice happens to be unreal?

1 unitys business model(1 time payment vs unreals "percentage of everything for life")
2 Multiuse(some engines can make this kind of game or that kinda game, with unity, i can use the "same" workflow even when it isnt a game)
3 multiplatform(my first engine was torque, then i looked at unity and i can compile for this and this without much tweaking)
4 awesome support with rad .blend files(not sure about competitors, but dont care)
