Why is tilemap showing purple squares in scene and in game view?

Google has no results, I have most recent update of unity

 

you have sprites attached to the tile?
if yes
you have material attached to the sprites?

 

The tutorial i have doesnt add a material and it just works.

What material do I make / use?

ok, now give me a screen from your spritesheet inspector, and a screen in the sprite editor

 

Ok i think your Tilemap Renderer material is missing in your scene:
-grid
--tilemap

click on material in the editor and add "sprites-default"
