    Hi there,

I think there is no relation between GUI Canvas and the scene! So its better to have the canvas on another window (independent from the scene), Isn't it?

What do you think? Let me know if i am wrong.

I don't like where it is now either. Never thought of putting it in another window. But sometimes you do want to see it in relation to other game objects. It would be nice if it was positioned better.

If you are annoyed that you are seeing the UI while building your level you can set the GUI layer to invisible (or all other layer) in the top left of the unity window (The button is called Layers).

Are you referring to the Legacy GUI or the new Unity UI?
With the new Unity UI, the default Canvas (Screen Space - Overlay) works like the old Legacy GUI and just displays on top of the 3D rendering.
If you use Screen Space - Camera, you can add depth to your GUI but is is sill full screen, what ever the resolution.

With World SPace you can take your 3D UI and embed it within your 3D Scene like any other regular GO.

    Hope this helps
