I have recently joined a facebook group , this group is the biggest groups ever in games developement in Middle East, This group have about 52 thousand people. now that's not the problem the problem is that I discovered that most of these people are using Unity 5 cracked , so I talked to them and asked them why would they use cracked unity and they kept complaining that unity pro has more features than Unity free (which is not right at all) so why is that? why are people using Unity 5 cracked instead of Unity 5 free version? I have been using Unity since 2011 and I have never used the cracked version even that I had the chance to do it. So when will people stop doing that ? when will people stop using unity 5 cracked or any other cracked software and start using the available free softwares? I just don't get it , unity team is working hard to offer good features for the free version and some assholes use crack and wipe all of their hard work, I am really ashamed of that behaviour.

They will never stop doing that.

Piracy was discussed in great detail in other threads and there are many different aspects at play.

Regardless of that, the main issue is large numbers.
Let's say that a chance of a person pirating something is one in 1000. That's 0.1%. We have 7 billion people on the planet, that means 7000000 of them would pirate.

There's no point in being ashamed someone else's behavior unless you're somehow responsible for that.

Hackers use back doors in cracked software to access systems to do stuff. Hackers are always interested in back doors. So it's in their interests to promote and push cracked software. Regardless of if people actually need it or not.

Yeah I'm an admin of one group that has like 20K members and just as you mention most are from Middle East, etc.
And I know in my head they are using cracked versions and I would ban every single one of them without a second thought. I've done that before and got in trouble by the head admin and said I can't do that unless I have actual proof. So needless to say I only show up once in awhile to check things as I can't go around banning all the idiots.

I was always under the impression that the real hardcore cracking scene that organizes itself in the well known groups does the whole cracking thing as a kind of competitive sport with a rather rigorous quality assurance and ridicoulously long checklists for how a release has to be to "count" towards their scoreboards. I'm pretty sure that any malware would violate their rules. Of course the stuff gets repackaged, manipulated and torrented by god knows who. I'm not really disagreeing with your post, the blanket-statement about "hackers" just rubbed me the wrong way :).
I've read (parts of) a book about the cracker subculture when I studied, but it seems to be available in German only. It's quite fascinating actually. The book was called "no copy" I think.

I know :/ but the sad thing is that the people from middle east are the most people who use crack .

That's true, but sharing their hacks is a bad thing tho.

:O I had similar situation like that one

I can see this turning ugly, we don't discuss piracy in any form here.

    We all know it's bad.

Every time you pirate something, a terrible anti-piracy ad is made.
