Why do i need to make a new account for the asset store?

I've been an owner of Unity3d products for at least 3 years now, but i've lapsed a bit in my development lately due to a lack of time.

I've just upgraded to the latest unity3d and wanted to have a look around the unity asset store. I tried getting something on there and it said i needed to login. I have a login for this forum and a login for unity answers but i believe that is all. Neither of these logins worked. Trying the forgot my password link with my email address revealed the address wasn't found. So i guess i need to make a new account.

I've brought Unity Pro iPhone over the years, so have valid licenses. I'm a bit worried about making a new account as it says i'll be able to manage my licences, how will i be able to get my already purchased licenses managed on this new account?

Just a bit of help on this would be really appreciated!!
