I upgraded from Unity 2021 to Unity 2022. This mostly went smoothly, but my player character is lit differently in Unity 2022.

Here are a couple of pictures. What it looked like in Unity 2021 (looks like this in Unity 2022 while domain is loading after leaving play mode.

Beyond that, my player character looks like this and I don't know why.

Cany anyone help me figure out what's going on? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a higher contribution by ambient environmental light. Would depend on the shader, any volumes or defaults for volumes, and especially which pipeline, but I would assume HDRP from this forum.

I haven't changed any settings from the update. I just went from Unity 2021 to Unity 2022. Same HDRP Lit shader.
Is there a more appropriate forum for me to ask this question?

Right forum, maybe some more information of your issue.

This is very little in terms of information system and lighting set up shaders/materials

One thing you can to to understand more

Is use the Render Pipeline debugger, there are many lighting debuggers and more there. To help visualise the scene and what's going on.

If you still have an old version of it the. Even better cause you can compare the lighting contributions in an A/B test.

From this screenshot we can only assume something Visual, in which case it could be many things, like lighting data needing updating after upgrade ( see unity upgrades 2021+2022) since this is skin related it could also be the diffusion profile set up.

There's also the shadowing, the lot shader may not be receiving shadows. ( Again since the updating can change somethings if it's moved around a lot)

I would also do a base test of lighting and shadows without post affect turned on / or set them to 0 since that makes things a little more cluttered.

You can also debug shadows in the render pipeline debugger. ( Under windows menu).

There is a lot of shadow work going on here, if you've baked anything consider that too, but also and ScreenSpace shadow solutions, like SSGI or AO, even contact shadows could be different or even missing the set up on the older > new updated render pipeline asset.
