    Hello friends,
I just wanted to know - which 3d software is good for creation of levels like houses and bigger areas for MMORPG games? I think Blender isn't good enough and with SketchUp you never know which side is the face showing (and that's very important in Unity). It would be nice if the software was free, or cheap ;)

    Thank you,
    iMiWiz

Just asking, what makes you think Blender isn't good enough? The one thing I can think of is the 32-bit thing, where you run out of RAM if you have too much loaded at once, or were trying to render too much at once. But Blender has a 64-bit build available so that should not be a problem. Care to elaborate?

    Blender not good enough!?

Blender is up there with the best in 3D modelling software. It has pretty much the same feature level as the $1000+ software, and is just as capable. You cannot get anything better then Blender for its price (free).

Frankly, if you don't think Blender is good enough, then most likely nothing will be.

    Blender
    Softimage XSI

    Maya
    3ds max

It's all up to you.
All 3d software applications, can do these things pretty well including K3D.
Blender may not have, all of the features of the other paid for, software packages.
But it makes up for it, with third party plugin support. And a talented team.
It also does modelling and texturing really well too. :D

There are also alot of Architectural modelling tutorials, on:
    Blender Cookie
, Blender Guru and on Youtube and Vimeo.
    Your choice, your pick! :D

It's really up to you which software you want to learn and use.

    I'm originally a Maya user.
But I have been using Blender, for most of my work now, for the last 3 years.
    Enjoy!! :D

As it was said before - every 3d software can handle this. :)
    It's up to you :)
    I was using Blender since 1998... (1.43 I think..),
but recently switched to Houdini Indie :)
If you have lot of this buildings to do, it would be easier IMHO to build digital asset and import
to Unity with Houdini Engine. And then get many different buildings created easily :)
But that's just my way :)

I am no pro in 3D modeling, by FAR. But you should use Blender. I mean, it is free, and if you are asking a question like this, I am just going to assume that you are like me, and not very experienced in 3D modeling. 3ds Max and Maya are very good, but expensive. But the funny thing is, I think Blender is just as good as the two. I have seen 3ds Max and Maya used and you can do the same stuff in Blender. I just think professionals maybe like to hate Blender because it is open source and free, which makes them think that it sucks. But Blender is actually very powerful.
