I've been going back and forth and I can't tell if I'm drawn back to Verdana because I'm so used to it by this point or if it is actually just strictly better looking.

Verdana is remarkably better looking. It's much, much more clear and readable. Inter is honestly a terrible choice.

Inter is a fluffy blury mess of a font, thus fitting perfectly in line with the rest of 2019.3 flat crap gui changes.

Verdana is crisp and readable.. at least they didn't go full retard and force Inter, because I wouldn't even want to open newer Unity versions if the font was stuck on that.

Hmm, for me Inter looks better and is more enjoyable than Verdana... Not sure if some other environmental things affect it per user but for me while Verdana seems a bit sharper it also looks a bit smaller and more "pixelated" like 'V' and 'y' look worse with it.

I have a feeling they'll gradually fade out the Verdana font though, since this is just the first iteration of GUI changes they promised. Same with DOTS and the URP. Right now we're right between things, but at some point I'm guessing they're going to force the new way, so they don't have to maintain the old one and make sure that everything looks fine with two different fonts.

Unlikely, considering part of the changes to the UI were done to make extending and customizing the UI easier.

i didn't even realize there was other fonts. Which is weird because I had Verdana set in preferences. Just swapped to Inter, and immediately my eyes feel happier. Only difference i see is that it's bolder, which makes more legible when I slouch back like a lazy turd.

Inter is super readable. Verdana is better looking from an aesthetic perspective, but I take super readable over aesthetics all day every day.

This discussion requires hardware and software setup specifications.
Otherwise is pointless, as font presentation varies grateley.
On win 7 with 24 inch screens, on 1920x1080 res, verdana font is far more superior. Default font is unreadable, with light skin. That with both Unity 2019.3 and 2020.1.

I'm going to have to go with Inter, using a 32" 4k monitor.
I actually like the UI updates when using the default / light skin, but I think the dark skin looks awful with the new UI.

Ah that is valid point, including which skin is used. I use light one. (Edited my post above)

Quad setup 2x1080p@144hz 24", 2x1440p@144hz 27" default windows dpi because unlike some fools I don't go for a resolution that doesn't match the actual screen width where I need to mess about with adjusting dpi settings.

So Verdana crisp and readable on dark or light gui's
Inter fuzzy S*** ..awful on dark and light gui's, infact woudl say its far worse on the light skin, but then 2019.3 light skin is just plain awful by design I guess even with Verndana.

Inter might be fine for a marketing demo or video.. where you don't have to look at it long or at all... it's just fn awful otherwise...How the hell that was designed for interfaces is like some sort of inside joke.. bit like that other trash font roboto.

I'm using Verdana, but it's got issues with bold text when prefab modifications are made.
Hoping Unity will fix it. Inter is a little blurry on the ol 2K monitor, but it does display modifications much better.
Here's some comparisons on my machine:

2019.3 Verdana (First glance, hard to see changes in bold):

2019.3 Inter (Easy to see bold changes, text a little blurry)

    2019.2 Verdana (No problems)

Clearly they've messed up the bold rendering on Verdana in 2019.3 :(

Agreed, and once that was set everything was fine for me. I was afraid the new UI would end up being awful but it's not bad.
