I'm new to 3d modeling and I need some characters for my game, I've heard there are editors that allows you to create them without knowing about modeling at all.. I've seen www.mixamo.com but it seems that they are not free -_-

Do you know where can i get some? Thanks in advance!

a good start would be Unity's models used in their tutorials: http://unity3d.com/support/

Download blender if you want to create your own but you have to watch like 20+ hours tutorials to get a full idea of what you can do. You can find free models easily enough, just google search free rigged models and there should be plenty of options

Nice to see women making games too! I know these posts are old but it might help others too..
-Mixamo does have great free models, animations and a free online auto-rigging tool, theie website and wording is just confusing..
1st make sure to sign up to get an ADOBE id if you dont have one,
    then for models go to:
    https://www.mixamo.com/store/#/search?page=1&type=Motion%2CMotionPack
the tabs will let you find animations/models etc...
    For auto-rigging:
    http://www.mixamo.com/upload_character
They also have an online polygon-reducer called The Decimator, works great!

***NOTE!!! Mixamo merged with Adobe and they are shutting down certain mixamo stuff like
the decimator and online storage of your models, etc. August 2017 is the cutoff date..

    If you are using
Daz Studio, you may want to consider creating your own avatars or figures with it, if you created something then its yours to do with as you please, after you've created something export it as *.fbx, it carries all the rigging with it , or you may reimport and fix it manually in unity. hope this helps, note: if you are going to use Ethan and its skeleton, when you are ready to export your figure , first create a new pose using a obj file of ethan as a guide to make the pose fit ethan, else it will not work in unity.

All Mixamo characters, animations & rigs are free now for a limited period of time with Adobe ID sign in.

When I import it to unity, all materials are disabled, can't edit or delete them, kinda sucks.

So, just to clarify, you can take any 3D model of a character (*.OBJ for example) and use Mixamo.com's auto-rigger or Blender3D's Rigify to add a skeleton(avatar) compatible with Unity. There's other software to rig a character but those are two good free ways. Also, I forgot to mention, Autodesk also has a character generator (it will rig it automatically) and I think it even includes a mesh-morpher to blend two characters. Check it out at:
    https://charactergenerator.autodesk.com/builder/

To the person who mentioned missing materials: I've seen the issue about FBX's and other models lacking textures/materials mentioned by Unity staff, so they're aware of it. I have found that my embedded textures are not being assigned properly (but the materials are fine) and I have to assign them myself. I've had that issue with several 3D model formats, I can assign the textures myself, but some models have too many materials with missing textures and I have to guess which texture belongs to which material.

    *Update:
I guess I should have given more detail about two of the other great places to get free, rigged, Unity compatible character models...

    https://www.mixamo.com/#/?page=1&type=Character

    and

Check out the Unity Asset Store:
    https://assetstore.unity.com/?category=3d&free=true&q=character&orderBy=0

Also, Mixamo has a couple animations assets on the Unity Asset Store:
    https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/animations/melee-axe-pack-35320

As of 2019, Mixamo is still free.
