Where is the videoplayer????

I've updated to version 5.4.5p5 and I still don't have a video category or any video player components. There doesn't seem to be any documentation about where to go to download it or anything which means I must be overlooking something incredibly obvious. Anyone want to help me out?

 

5.4 I believe only had Movie Textures. The VideoPlayer component was added a few years ago for Unity 5.6.

Well that would make sense... Why would I be stuck on 5.4 updating and 5.6 be available out there?

 

Not sure what you are talking about, but if you're referring to the update prompt when you start Unity it may have to do with you running a patch release version instead of a regular release. You can download any version of Unity at any time though. 5.6 was released about 2 years ago. Current release is Unity 2018.3. If you want to stick with Unity 5.x, the final release was Unity 5.6.6 which ended its support cycle.

Why are you still in Unity 5? Unless you have a compelling reason, jump forward to 2018.3
