I'm trying to follow the 2D Game Kit instructions and have fallen at the first hurdle. Just after the bit where it tells you to create a new project, it goes on to tell you to find the asset store tab and click on it. I can't see one anywhere and my screen doesn't look quite the same as the one in the tutorial. I need to import the assets for the 2D Game Kit from within the editor so if spome one could explain where I'm going wrong I'd be very grateful.

Look at the menus along the top of the Unity window. You want the Window menu.

Depending on which version of Unity you are running, it will likely be Window -> Asset Store or Window -> General -> Asset Store. This will open a new tab with the Asset Store in it. You can then close the tab after loading whatever assets you need.

The default keybinding is Ctrl-9. I'm guessing Command-9 on Mac, but I don't actually know.

The 9 is the one on the normal keyboard, not on the numeric pad. :)
