When making your game...

Hello, Just a quick question, When you are making your game do you do the following first or?

Design first or would you say do scripts/how it's going to play out first?

I usually begin by banging out a quick prototype, something I can fiddle with easily to find the fun. I don't worry about how pretty it looks at this stage.

Then I either refine the prototype until it gradually becomes the final game, or (more rarely) throw it out and start fresh once I've figured out what I'm trying to make.
