When I assign my model's avatar to the animator it flips out

    I exported a model from Daz Studio and imported it into Unity. I set it to humanoid rig (and all of the bones seem correctly linked). I created an animation controller, then pulled the avatar from the model. It's fine until I hit the record button on the animation window then the body gets lowered, the legs get crazy - like sideways indian style stitting and the arms also come outward a bit. The torso and head don't appear to be affected.

    As soon as I remove the avatar it fixes itself. And it ONLY does this with its own avatar. Any other avatar it's fine. Honestly, I'm not even sure what the point of the avatar is - since it doesn't seem to matter which avatar you have assigned, but I'm curious as to why its own avatar makes it go crazy.
