Thanks for reading. So I last used Unity in version 4 I think it was and don't recall ever running into any file size issues like this. My app is a single scene pinball kind of game with two shaded spheres for balls, two capsules for the paddles, one light, and a low poly box type model for the pinball field area with a texture on it. I'm using Playmaker but I believe that's it for assets.

When I export this to an Xcode project the project is 1.2 gigs (1.11 gigs for libiPhone-lib.a) and my app size is 560mb.

I tried to follow the checklist for reducing file size and looked at some other recommendations but it doesn't seem to help much.

Is this normal or did I flub something up?

    Thank you.

    Hello kidwithacomputer,

That doesn't sound right, no. Can you try removing some elements from your scene and see how that affects the final app size?

    Best,

Hi, sorry for the delay, I just saw that you replied to my post.

I started a default new 3D project with no other assets in Unity v5.3.4f1 and without adding anything I switched to iOS then tapped Build. This default scene in Unity exported to a 1.15gb sized Xcode project and then a 386.4mb app size. Unfortunately even this is too big for my project.

I will try deleting and reinstalling Unity to see if it's maybe an issue with my installation.

Hi, unfortunately a clean install of Unity and an export of the default scene resulted in the same app size. I read that the default scene is supposed to export to a 22mb app size. Is there something I can do to achieve this? Thank you.

How are you calculating the app size to be 386.4MB?
