    According to the changelog, there's a non-preview, non-experimental version of Visual Scripting: Changelog | Visual Scripting | 1.8.0 (unity3d.com)

Yet it's hidden from the Package Manager, both in 2021.3 and 2022.2. I can install it by changing manifest.json by hand, and it seems to work just fine. What's going on?

They cancelled 1.8 release awhile back. It included the preview of the new high performance runtime. They've decided to ship the new runtime together with UI Toolkit based Graph Tools Foundation migration in 2-3 years. No new features are coming to UVS in 2023 as per their recent forum post. Current UVS is effectively in maintenance mode if you can call it that with 8+ months of no bug fixes.

Hi, you can safely change the version in the manifest. The reason why it is not discoverable through the Package Manager yet is because one of the new Package Manager rule is that only the latest patch version of what's set as the version for a package in Editor Manifest is discoverable. 1.8.0 will be set as the default version in the next Unity 2021.3 and 2022.2 patch versions.

Wasn't aware 1.8 got new/different content, Unity previously stated it's pulled out of public access. Glad to see AOT issue finally addressed.
